- CometThis person keeps calling and hanging up without leaving a message. I finally was able to answer and it was a rude woman stating she was with Occupational Safety something and stated that I needed to purchase some literature. As soon as I started asking questions, She got rude and defensive and the call was disconnected. It is a scam. I don't think any state or federal safety agencies solicit people by phone.

- Randyyup! Another scam. Trying to pose as a government agency and claim you are out of compliance with Federal law. I work for the government and when I started asking pertinent questions, they got defensive and tried to pressure me into making a purchase - totally ignoring my questions.

- Lynn| 1 replyWoman called asking for the owner of the company. (I have a new business) Nicia Young is posing to be with a government agency and stated I am out of compliance with state and federal laws. She explained to me that they were sending me a package that I would need to sign for that had everything I needed to be in compliance. Asked if I had a fire extinguisher and first aid kit. That if an inspector comes before the package arrives to reference a compliance#. I stated I needed more information before I paid for anything. I need to understand what it is I am actually paying for. When I asked for their website information, I was given http://uscco.us NOT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY! They basically try to information overload you and make you think you have to have this by state and federal law.

- dan| 3 repliesKept getting messages from a Marie Jordan. Finally called back, telling me they had an inspector coming, and they were sending a compliance package. Fine and dandy, then started hitting me up for a compliance package fee or whatever. As I am not privy of giving any payments to strange numbers, I told her I was going to call her back after researching it a bit, she got somewhat irritated, I said this is just any random number I called back, how do I know it's not a scam? She said "I can assure you it's not a scam" While I was explaining why I was not giving her payment info right now until I check it out she hung up, I googled the number and here I am typing.

- Slim replies to danOne of the many telephone scams involves somebody claiming you MUST buy certain OSHA material to display in your company, or be in violation. They then charge $$ for those posters.
However, you can get the posters for free, as well as the OSHA Code of Federal Regulations and the required "Workers' Rights Booklet", here:
