Left a message saying they were Carrie from CenturyLink calling about our busines phone service.
Sounds like a scam to me. CenturyLink customer service has told me before that they do not call customers to make changes to services.

Received a call from Sylvia regarding new and better rates for our CenturyLink Business account. Called CenturyLink Customer Service and they assured us it was not them. We have blocked our account so no one can change it without us call CenturyLink first.

The call sounded suspicious so I had our receptionist operator send her to voicemail.  

Listening to the voicemail, "Julie" from Century Link wanted to call to go over our rates and that she has better rates for us.  

Caller ID was "unknown"

It is a scam people.

Caller identified herself as "Eileen from Business Solutions Group, an authorized sales agent for Century Link".
I called Century Link & asked about it.  Century Link checked and told me that Business Solutions Group is an authorized 3RD PARTY RE-SELLER of Century Link services.

The person at this number (Eileen?) leave daily messages on our church answering machine.  When I try to return a call to the number she left, there is no answer.

Ask for a Channel ID number if they have one , they are legit. I used to work for a company like that.

If you call customer service you have to ask for a supervisor and you have to have a channel ID number for the company that called. If its a third party hey wont have one and they only call about one part of your bill, not the whole things. I have looked into this several times.

The business is "Business Solutions Group", they are not Century Link.  They called saying they were from Century Link and wanted to reduce our bill.  When they passed me through the automated verification, the recording kept repeating the telephone company was "Business Solutions Group".   Do not trust these people.

I am not sure who you spoke with but I spoke with a lady named Ashlie and she told me that same thing. I thought that she was a scam but I was about to verify that the work through CenturyLink. They are not a scam. She fixed my billing and lowered my rate no questions about the bill ever.

Scam! When I asked what the account was - she could not give me a complete account number - then she started to get defensive.
I then called Century Link and found that they don't call you about your rates, and how to lower them - they do not use outside vendors.

It's like no one here has ever heard of an ISP reseller. They are completely legitimate. As a business even if you call centurylink **directly** to buy things you'll often go through a 3rd party like this. I work with these people regularly to turn up new Century Link services. They are authorized to use Century Link logos, name and even email addresses.

There is probably a scammer SPOOFING this number, so they can PHISH your info.
