Called today(March 17, 2009), did not provide name or company. His words,
"call me, it is important!" I don't call people back unless they provide their name and the nature of the call!

Call my work phone several times a day and states its personal call. If its personal they should not call work number.

Called my DADs house, which I have never lived there, looking for me 3 times but did not leave a name or number.  Who are these people?

Said they were SRA Associates trying to collect a debt.  this is a business! Left a file number to reference. I gooled SRA and they are legit but the number is not.

Are you serious! they are not legit! this people buy old accoun, this accounts are so old, they do not  show on your recorec, they try to collect on closed accounts. They do give a file # created by them, don't buy into it, thell them to stop calling you.

Called me to collect debt ...i don't owe anyone a dime !  to anybody ! what the heck

these people called our daughters in laws looking for us the people we owe money to know our phone number we have not even spoke to these people for 7  years how did they get thier number

Prerecorded message left by debt collector SRA Associates (sraassociates.com). Call 888-799-7090 to remove number, left another 888 number to call regarding "important business matter."

These people are RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL - very scammy. I think they get a list of old debts and keep bugging people with similar names in case they can collect.  These people constantly call my husband for an old debt of someone with a similar name. He verifies the SS# is wrong and that he has never lived in the area the debt was from. Sometimes they say they will make a note and stop calling, but they continue calling.

I told this guy that he owes me $1.99 per minute of conversation with me and it didn't stop this criminal from asking me social security number, which is against the law.
He refused to give his social security or Federal Tax ID.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

Got a call today on my cell phone during work hours.  I tried to find out what the call was about, but the lady was rude and did not say anything beyond this is SRA
