    They have called my house numerous times leaving messages on my answering machine for an individual I have never heard of. One time my husband had answered the phone they said it was Sallie Mae and gave a 888-272-5543 number as their number. I called it back and told them they have the wrong number and to quit calling...They said the person that I claimed they were looking for was nowhere in their database (by phone number or name) and that I would no longer receive any calls. Within 3 days I had received to calls (both left on vm) from this company.

    I contacted the BBB who told me the 888-272-5543 number is for FLM Financial Corp (Sallie Mae) and gave me another number to contact. I have also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and The National Do Not Call Registry.

    I did call this number back and did confirm that it is indeed Sallie Mae, for anyone else who is interested in knowing. They claim they are calling for personal business and would not tell me if it was solicitation, collections, or what.

    My recommendation is to turn them into the BBB, FTC, National Do Not Call Registry and anyone else you can. I am doing it myself

    I missed typed the name before... It is not FLM Financial Corp! It is SLM Financial Corp.

    To file a complaint with the BBB against this company contact 570-614-4222.

    Called at various times.....No Message and no one home...I don't answer
    Toll Free Calls and suggest that others do the same...Perhaps due to their ineffectiveness, they may go away and find another job. I don't think one will see any positive response in the short or near term when dealing with others to resolve these calls.... Good effort and it is worth the initial effort anyway.

    They are calling me becasue last month I paid the regular amount 498.13. But, because of the way the interest works, it was supposed to be 503.13. I figured I could add the $5 to this month's payment but no, 2 weeks ago, they started calling my and my husband's cell phone. They just informed me that till they actually recieve the payment, the automatic dialer will keep calling me. I pay them $500 evefry month and they are calling me every day about 5 times a day for $5!!!

    Sallie Mae is not only breaking FDCPA laws by calling you five times a day, but is also violating FCC regulations by using an autodialer to call your husband's cell phone:

    FDCPA § 806.  Harassment or abuse  [15 USC 1692d]

    A debt collector may not engage in any conduct the natural consequence of which is to harass, oppress, or abuse any person in connection with the collection of a debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section:

    (5) Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number.

    FCC: Automatic Telephone Dialing Systems and Artificial or Prerecorded Voice Calls

    The FCC has specific rules for automatic telephone dialing systems, also known as “autodialers.” These devices can be particularly annoying and generate many consumer complaints. The rules regarding automatically dialed and prerecorded calls apply whether or not you have registered your home phone number(s) on the national Do-Not-Call list.

    Autodialers can produce, store, and dial telephone numbers using a random or sequential number generator. They often place artificial (computerized) or prerecorded voice calls. The use of autodialers, including predictive dialers, often results in abandoned calls – hang-ups or “dead air.” Except for emergency calls or calls made with the prior express consent of the person being called, autodialers and any artificial or prerecorded voice messages may not be used to contact numbers assigned to:

    any emergency telephone line;

    the telephone line of any guest or patient room at a hospital, health care facility, home for the elderly, or similar establishment;

    a paging service, wireless phone service (including both voice calls and text messages), or other commercial mobile radio service; or

    any other service for which the person being called would be charged for the call.

    Have your husband to inform these jokers the next time they call his cell phone that you are turning them in to the FTC and the FCC for the above violations.

    Since 01/17/2009, I have been getting calls from (765) 283-3176 and other toll free numbers.  Sometimes as many as 4 times a day.  They even called me on Super Bowl Sunday at 07:00pm and 09:00pm.  When you answer it is just a recording to call Sallie Mae (Student loan).  I co-signed for my daughter .  I called them and told them to send me a bill.  They sent the bill a week later and I paid it the very next day and as this day (02/07/2008) they are still calling.  Four times a day.  Will it ever end!!!!!

    I have had a similar situation with being called multiple times a day.  I have a substantial debt which I have always attempted to repay but I cannot always afford what they're asking for.  I do pay what I can afford and I am continually harassed about the situation.  I cannot give them money I do not have and this whole situation is causing me and my husband far too much stress and aggrivation.  Thank you to whomever posted the information about harassment I think I will be reporting this.  I have already paid what I can afford this month and I keep getting threatening phone calls requiring me to call within 24 hours......far as I'm concerned I shouldn't have to keep calling them back and telling them the same thing!

    I received a call from one of their other numbers this morning. I told them that I paid (albeit late), and they showed that I was current in the system. I got another phone call this afternoon, despite being told I'd be taken off the autodialer's list. This is also in addition to the two emails they've sent saying that I was overdue, even though I already got it taken care of. They never responded to my replies, either. What a pain in the ass.
