Received a call after 10 pm regarding a grocery store called. The caller did not say Safeway, it was a name I don't recognize or remember.

Someone called from 888-640-4446 saying she was calling regarding my Von's grocery check card.  She requested my address so she could send coupons, and promotional items.  Upon my further inquiry, she stated it was optional, and I didn't have to provide info.  I called the number back, and recording indicated "The Data Center", and to leave a number & requested info.

Yeah, I got a call from the same number. It was from a Safeway subsidiary called Randall's. Why on earth would they care to have my address? They use discount cards, but I doubt it would be revoked. I wouldn't call back to give anyone my address over the phone. It's complete marketing info.

Got a call today. Said she was from Safeway.  We don't even have a Safeway in my area.  

I asked her to take my name off her list as I was on the Do Not Call list.  She said "we don't use lists."  I said, I don't care what you use, I'm on the Do Not Call List, so don't call me again.  She repeats, "oh, we don't use lists."  HUH?  So I said, great, doesn't matter, you are not to call this number ever again, GOT IT?  Thank you very much.  Goodbye.

OK people regarding (888-640-4446)this number is coming from a company called (Secure One Data Solutions) there website address is: (http://www.secure1data.com) The reason you're getting theses calls our because you wrote a check at one of the stores and the check did not go threw and groceries store does not have away of getting a hold of you so they use companies like (Secure One Data Solutions) to get that information.  So if you don't want to talk with the grocery store then just don't give out your information.

Who ever wrote this is right on the money.

got a voice mail from this number, said her name was melissa and calling on behalf of Safeway and if they could have my address so that they could finish my application.  asked me to call back a different number (888) 955-8373.  I don't want safeway to have my address so i guess i won't call... i'm getting the gas discounts at the pump anyways and the in store discounts as well

I have not shopped at safeway in months and they called. Have not written a check there in about 7 years!... They wanted to update address

I just got a call from this number and I haven't written a check to anyone but my parents in years, so obviously it's just a scam

that is bull, because i got the call, and i dont write checks. sounds like some kind of scam to me.

I got a missed call from the 800 service, answered to late, called back the # and they asked if I received a message, and told them NO that I saw the missed call and called it back, the women on the other end stated she couldn't talk to me unless I received a message, I asked if it was for a survey or was it a collection company, still stated that she couldn't discuss this with me unless I tell her what the message said, well Hello Lady, didn't I tell you that I didn't get a message I was just calling back she started to ramble so I just hung up on her.

I got a call today for this same number. The woman said it was Safeway calling and I had recently applied for a Safeway Discount Card but failed to provide my address. For one, I've had a Safeway discount card for 3 years and for two, they have my address because I updated it last year in order to receive their promotions.

I certainly will not be providing any information to this company....

I just had "Safeway" call saying they needed to update my address and if I wanted to give them a new one or leave it. I said no and hung up. First off, who calls about updating addresses after 8 p.m.? Second, I have NEVER written a check with Safeway. So sorry if I seem a little skeptical with your response!

Considering that I have never used a check in my life, you are incorrect.

The customer service agent for Vons or whatever third party company they hired left a message and asked for someone who was not at my cell phone number.  I called the different call back number that they left (888-955-8373). They wanted my address because of an application for a Vons card that this person had allegedly filled out. I told them to remove my cell phone number but they wouldn’t. They kept asking me for my name. I told them I never filled out an application so they wouldn’t have me on file. Apparently they can’t search by phone number and the customer service rep hung up.

File a complaint with the National Do Not Call List if you have never done business with them and they have no reason for calling you.

Same exact situation for me as well, right down to 'Melissa' calling.
For others: Just don't respond or give information to these people. Even if you did apply for a club card and did not fill in an address you will still receive the discounts, etc.

Called for my son who is at college. claiming to be safeway card update.Tucson AZ..
Insistent for address. She said our no. Was the one on the app. Then I said" yu should
have the address" how else would he get a card!"  I also said he is an adult not our
Legal business(several times) and further he does not use nor possess
a safeway card.(he doesn't). Son has no debt either. We or our kids have never written
a check to safeway (always used a debit card )  to relate a check not the reason
per a previous posting here..son does not even hv a cking acct! # and etc seems bogus.

They will also contact you if you applied for a Reward's card at a Safeway, Randall's, Tom Thumb, etc. Usually they are simply looking for missing information.

Weird -must be a phonebank or the number has recently turned over. This is a number to contact Zulily (zulily.com clothes and stuff) because I had to call about an order last night but today I couldn't remember what the number was for on my call history today so I googled it. Instead of Zulily, all these pages about calls from Safeway came up. *shrug this number hasn't called me...I called it.
