just called NYSEG - and they are not from the gas co- they are an outside firm that "locks in your low gas rate" They usually lock you in at a higher rate and you end up paying more. Also you have to pay brake your "contract"- its a costly mistake if you give them your account info. They ID'd themselves as NYSEG solutions- when I called the real NYSEG- they told me that their name is misleading and its illegal if they don't say who they really are.

I called them back for days and they finally answered - They said they were NYSEG solutions and told me I was eligable for some discounts if I could just read my electricity rate off the third page of my bill.  I asked them to look up my rate, and they kept saying they couldn't look up my account and that I needed to call back when I had my bill in front of me.  Very deceptive.  Good thing I checked here first!

Just took a call from them, tried to get me to give them all kinds of information.  After about 2 minutes I told them that this call was being monitored and recorded so it could be turned over to the NYS Police for SCAMMING.  Click.  Bet they won't be calling back.

Called my work # and a recording left a message about lowering my gas bill. Really? This is a college, idiots.  Asked me to return the call (888-651-3384) with my gas bill in hand. I don't answer 888 or 800 #s and have no intention of calling them back.

these gas/elec cos trying to get you business.  Not a good deal.  No saving and no service.  Delete.
