PRA Inc....they are located in tustin ca...or thats where there drop box is!!! it is a scam ...a couple of guys working out of some house....they will take all of your money threaten you and not report the debt has paid....beware!!! report to the california AG!!!

Too funny. Had to immediately call back. Collection agengy using number of 888-667-1146 a "Michael Jones" with a case number that was going to unfortunately have to serve me between the hours of 10-12. OMG Are you serious, I told him! He was like what? I said YES - that would be great! I paid that off in full in 2008 have full documentation and what they are saying I owe them $1200 from escalated from a $30 late fee they slapped on me. Never been over my limit, always a good customer (Orchard Bank) but I paid it off and closed it. I'll be happy to finally meet them in court.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)  prohibits debt collectors from collecting amounts that aren't owed.  This statute also prohibits collectors from misrepresenting the amount, character, or status of the debt.  

Some collectors will attempt to collect debts that have already been paid in full.  This kind of misconduct violates FDCPA.

Have received numerous calls from this number - Robert Reed.  I have not returned his calls, now he is calling my boss telling her I am going to be served with a summons to appear in court and gives her a case number.  Wow.  Good to know these scammers know no bounds when it comes to trying to collect money that is not owed.

They just called me. The caller ID said Fedex Office. Some guy named Robert Reed said I needed to call back to schedule my summons delivery. He said that if I do not call back then my documents would be issued. If they are going to serve me with a summons, aren't the documents already issued? I believe this is actually Nations Recovery. One of their employees actually got arrested a while back for impersonating a cop in order to collect a debt.

On May 2011 I recieved a call from Steve Bartel, threating to garnish my wages, I was in a panic since I live paycheck to paycheck and have to support my daughter and my girlfriend,  We settled to make $200.00 until the debt was cleared, this May he offered to settle for another hundred, we accepted and waiting for the letter to state our debt was closed and cleared.  I do not know who is real and who is a BIG thief scamming on us poor people to make our lives hell!!   I have called the number he gave me and then my girlfriend finds a bunch of other disconnected numbers online.  We have contacted lawyers, I can't wait to see their face and put some money back into MY pocket for all the hassle we have had to deal with.  It is shameful to be an American because the Goverment makes you have an ID but does nothing to protect us.
