Received a text from an 863 number telling me to call it for a $50 target gift card.

same here but my text came from 352-573-9881

Spammer just sent a text to me regarding "Free $50 Target Gift voucher" and to call 888-684-4708.  Text came from 941-726-3435.

Yep got the same message, $50 free target gift card.  Number it came from was (863) 521-5518.  Who ARE these people?!??!

Receive a text a minute ago to call this number to receive a 50 dollar target card.

Got the same text. Losers! Target Gift Card.

Likely a scam. When a stranger shows up from nowhere and offers you a deal, it's likely going to benefit the stranger more than it's going to benefit you. Stay away.

It's a scam!

If you're receiving spam text, most wireless companies now let you forward it to the shortcode 7726 (SPAM), to let them know it is a spam text. You'll then get another text, from your wireless company, asking you to text them the number from the original text.

If you doubt this, and I don't blame you for being skeptical, I saw the story with this information on the CNN website. You can check it for yourself before trying it.

Obviously, this is more reasonable if you have unlimited texting, since I don't know if they charge you if you have a limited number of texts per month, but it's worth a try otherwise.

received a text from phone number 9418408248 stating that i have been selected to receive a  free $50 gift card from target and to call 8886844708 to redeem it...unfortunately, some are naive enough to actually call this

I tried this and it totally worked.  AT&T replied back immediately asking me to send them the phone number that sent me the spam message.  Thanks!

I had the same message from 941-567-8759...

text from +1 (352) 613-6133 to call the 888-684-4708, the ATT 7726 worked.

Got the "$50 at Target..." message from 312-641-4583, and I sent it on to 7726 and the spam reporting worked (on AT&T).

Same here!  got a text today for a $50 Target voucher, but it was from a 773#

I won a %50 dollar gift card! All I had to give was my SS number!!! So easy!
