This # has been persistently calling my cell lately.  No idea what it is.

Just found a posting saying that "its excel energy about their saver switch program. you can get on their do not call list."  I called this 888 # and got on their do-no-call list with an answering machine.  Hope it will work.  
I kinda remember I had to do the same thing last year.  What a nuisance.

They've been calling my cell every day and sometimes twice.  Once I answered just to tell them to cut it out, and there was no one on the other end -- not even a machine.  What is the point of placing calls like that?  Do they really think they're going to sell anything that way???

I got the call today and yesterday. I didn't answer. I also read that it might be Excel. Annoying.

Yep - same here - just call back and listen to the message and it will give you an option to add your number to their own do not call list

We keep getting calls from this number, coming in at odd hours of the day and night.  There is never any message left.  If it really is EXCEL energy calling - can't help wondering what they believe they are going to accomplish by calling and leaving no message!

Just call the number back and follow the prompts to have your number added to their "Do Not Call" list. Problem solved.

I called the number back and did indeed add my number to the "do not call" list.  Easy peasy, lemon squeezy...

Wish all 1-888, 1-877, & 1-866 numbers gave the "do not call" option!

The number is Excel Energy's Saver Switch program group.  Call the number back and an automated message system will play and give you the option to be added to the do not call list.

Turns out that is Xcel, really simple to follow the prompts in their system to put your # on a do not call list.

With information from above posts I called the number back and added my number to the do not call list.  Problem solved.  Thanks to Ronnie, Recardo,, Mike, Pat and John etc. I placed this number on the national do-not-call list some years ago.  Does anyone know how long that is good for?  .

I also did as suggested and called number.  The automated system allowed me to add to the do not call list.  Took about 10 seconds!  I'm looking forward to no more calls from this number!!!!!!!

This is Xcel energy.  Call the number back and it will allow you to add to their do not call list.  Very simple.  7/10/2012

Yeah, I've been getting calls too.  I just called them back at that number and was able to put myself on a do not call list.  Thanks for the info!

Totally helpful!  I loved that you don't even have to talk to someone to place yourself on this company's do not call list.

First off, according to http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0108-national-do-not-call-registry your number remains on the list until it is disconnected basically.  However:

"Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request.  You should keep a record of the date you make the request."
