Called about my roommate's student loan debt.

One of my bankruptcy clients got a call from this number.  This collection agency collects on old student loans.  Their info is:

Keeps calling my daughter threatening to garnish her wages if she doesn't refinance through him.

Called my mother saying that I used her as a reference.  I haven't lived in the States for 15 years.  I haven't had anything to do with my mother for eleven years.  I have no debt in the States.  This kind of scam is illegal here.

Finally identified themselves as General
Revenue Corporation.

Claimed to be from GRC trying to locate someone with my maiden name who lived on my childhood street and who went to my university in order to collect an"unpaid" student loan.  Trouble is, I never borrowed as much as they were trying to collect AND I paid it back IN FULL years ago.  Who keeps records for over twenty years?  And those banks do not even exist anymore. I asked them to prove it was my debt by sending documentation to my current address.  No documentation sent, just a collection letter.  I responded with a CRRR letter stating I believed it to be a mistake and, in turn, got a more threatening letter stating that I had never responded. Followed by another letter a day later that my credit and employment situation would be investigated.  Funny how their PO Box and phone numbers do NOT match those on the GRC website!  This has got to be a scam!

My Dad received a phone call from a Fred Beck stating he had some "good news" for me.  If this is a collection agency regarding student loans, then I don't think this is good news.  If this Fred person calls back and starts to harrass my parents, he will be receiving some not so good news from me.

They called about someone that shares last name as mine asking if the last 4 digits of my social are **** when I said no they quickly hung up. I called the number back and told them I have had my number for 10+ years and told them not to call me again. They must be data mining trying to find people to collect student loan debt.

Just tell them you would report them to appropriate authorities since your number is in the DON'T CALL LIST.

They called at 8:24PM claiming to be the Dept of Child and Family Services. I don't have kids and I had no proof that they were who they said they were. The number came up unavailable and I am smart enough to know that if a government agency was calling, they would identify themselves on the caller id.

This number called me at my job claiming they had no other form of contact for me. When in fact they have two listed numbers and I'm in the phone book. They also, have two known correct and active addresses. I have referred the information to my lawyer. The person calling didn't identify the company only their name; John Brunner.

Lady named Tamika claims a loan is owed from college 17 yrs ago. Called my neighbours who happen to have the same last name. These people actually have my number on file but contacted a stranger. WTF!

Keep getting calls with a reference number. If a legit company wanted called back they would leave a better message. If it is for a student loan, I am up to date on the one I have. I haven't returned a call to this company.

They called me and refused to say where they were calling from and what it was pertaining to. They said it was policy, they couldn't give that out without me giving my name, date of birth or last four of social. So I told them i was not comfortable giving them that and that it was my policy not to give out personal info without knowing what its regarding.

this number keeps on calling for my daughter and as her dad they won't speak to me.  they won't even identify themselves and will only say it's a personal matter.  sorry, when it comes to my daughter, nothing is personal.

They called me at 2:28pm EST.  There was no voicemail so I'll assume it isn't anything important.

Have had (3) calls in the last couple days and they do not leave a message. Sorry but if it's important, leave a message. I do not answer 888 or 800 calls to my cell phone.

I called back - they said they were General Revenue Corporation. They said my name was Justin something and I owed $2700+ from a school Susquehanna. First, I went to Berkley. Second, I had no student loans. So, then she started to update her records with MY number. I told her I am not Justin - these are NOT the brightest people in the world.

It may an outright fraud - I basically stated if she called back, she may as well call my attorney (my best friend) and not waste my time.

They called my cell for my daughter and wouldn't identify themselves. She is an adult and hasn't lived with me for years. I wouldn't give them any information. B
I have blocked their number.

Would not release any information until I verified my date of birth and last four of my ssn, needless to say this call didn't go well for them. I refused to give them any personal info and the caller hung up on me, when I called back I was on hold for five minutes not sure if this is a legitmate company.

This company also operates under the number 513-605-7536. They called to say I was in default on a loan with the US Government. They have called so many as 4 times a day for what they claim is $6,000 I owe. They say "with their fees" the amount is over $8,000 now. They tried to get me to consolidate my loans through them and harassed me when I didn't return the paperwork in a prepaid ups envelope they sent. I was then told my wages would be garnished. According to the gov't, I have no loans in default. This company is ridiculous. They also seem to get very angry when you ask for any information about their company or proof of what they claim you owe. Do yourself a favor and investigate the claims for yourself.
