- sidrarose| 42 repliesMy debit card was charged $59.97 with an ISA FEE of 48 cents. This is how it looked on my statement: ELGTECH 888-729-1134 POS HASLEMERE SUR GB 358893. I knew I didn't make any purchases of that amount so I tried googling the name, nothing came up. I called the phone number and it was a basic "customer service" line that said there was no one available to speak with. They told me to leave my name, #, & email & they would get back to me so I did (not email) then it hung up on me. This was 12-17-10, I haven't heard back from them yet.
So I googled the phone number. Many websites that were linked to each other came up. They were all a specific porn site. One site (sams-stories.com) came up where a person mentioned on their blog about their card being charged ect. etc. Their story matched mine.
I guess I'm a victim of some kind of identity theft. I keep daily track of my accounts online so I was able to catch this & immediatly reported it & closed my card. For all those who don't have internet access the next best thing is calling the bank by phone number.- Caller: Elegant Technologies
- james m.smith| 7 repliesI have been scammed for $59.97 also
- Chris Myers| 3 repliesI have been scammed for the same amount $59.97 and then an additional $.60 both charged on 12/18/10. The number is just a place to leave a message, general customer service number. I'm not sure how my information was stolen but make sure you close your account and get on the phone with your bank if you receive this charge.
- Diana| 6 repliesSame for me and my daughter both, and it was after our last debit charge was made at a gas station. The bank said it's really common at gas stations... but I still don't know how they got my card #, when I put it in directly at the pump?????
- Caller: ELG TECH
- chosieI just got a call from Visa Fraud Protection. A charge for this amount was attempted on my account, but with a debit numer that I had called in stolen a year ago. She said it was an online company named ELG Tech and the charge originated in the United Kingdom.

- Louis ErnstI found an unauthorized charge on my bank from Elgtech 888-729. I immediately went to my bank, replaced my debit card and reported it to the fraud division. When I returned home, I Googled the name and followed the links to this page. Yep, definitely a scam! I'm printing this page and taking it to my bank in the morning.

- ltlbluhammerThank goodness I keep a close eye on my account! I have no idea how this even happened. They charged my account for $59.97 on 12/17/10. Who are these creeps? I work hard for my money and hope to get it back. This could have been another Christmas gift for by children or to pay a bill. Things are tough enough these days just living...then things such as this happen. Going to my bank in the AM. What really puzzles me is how in the world did they get my credit card info??????

- Lori replies to sidraroseI got a charge on my account for 59.97 also i got in touch with my bank and told them we didnot do there was a 2.00 international Tran Free as well. I think it is pretty bad for people to do this stealing from others is not right and if that was the only way to get money i would seat back and take a long look at my self. I hope there is crimal charges for these people and i am going to do my part.
- rmv| 1 replyI was also scammed for 59.97. I have tried calling the number and it goes to a customer service rep that tells me that there was a mixup and all the ELGTECH calls are being forwarded to them. This is the number they gave me to contact ELGTECH 480 648 8170. When I called this the same BS customer vmail came on saying that they were unavailable and to leave my info.

- JoshJust noticed the 59.97 charge pending on my CC so I googled the 888 number and came across this website. Figured it was a scam so I called the bank immediately and am on hold with the fraud dept. right now. Not sure where everyone is located at but the 480 number above is here in Scottsdale, AZ where I live. Also have no idea how they got my number, I keep this card locked up in the safe and only use it to pay recurring bills. Hopefully they get these scumbags!
- RobinJust got an email from my bank alerting me to a fraud charge of $74.26 and then another $2.95. I immediately called the 800 number my email gave me for my bank, spoke with the fraud dept and they immediately closed my debit card. How in the world do these people get info like this? Makes you wonder, thank goodness I check my bank account daily and have alerts set up. I will put a fraud alert with the credit agencies just to be sure.
