I have received two (2) calls from this number asking me to call and update my USAA auto policies.

I've received the same call.  I contacted USAA; they validated the number as a company they sub-contract to verify certain policy information.  It is legitimate.

Disregard the call and save yourself a lot of time.  I spent nearly a half an hour on the phone with USAA as they tried to verify this caller.  Even they doubted the validity of this call; the USAA reps are always polite and they called the number.  The person who answered said they were trying to gather information to verify our auto insurance.  USAA never does this.  The rep from the insurance division said that if the auto loan division needs verification, they will contact insurance directly and insurance will mail the needed verification.

Ditto above. USAA never does this. It's interesting that they started calling AFTER we bought a new Honda! I suspect it's a scam to sell you insurance on your new car. On another note, we do have a car being repaired in a body shop right now. They too have our info.

USAA only confirms when i make a change to the policy and if they
want info they snail mail it.

My name is John Hancock and I work for USAA Corporate Communications.  I wanted to assure everyone that USAA has contracted with Professional Surveys, Inc., otherwise known as PSI, to conduct a number of member surveys on behalf of USAA.  Letters were sent to members explaining you would be receiving a phone call from a representative of PSI and we’ve included a link on usaa.com (search PSI).  PSI is helping us make sure we have the most current and accurate information in the most cost-effective manner.  Rest assured that you can trust PSI to keep your information confidential. The answers you provide will only be given to us and used to update your account information.  We appreciate your cooperation and time, and we look forward to continuing to serve all your financial needs.

I received a message informing me about updating my auto policy on 7/20. I also received this questionnaire over the weekend. Throughout my ten year membership, I never got a call or questionnaire. So, I am going to give you just the facts from what I found out online for the past couple of days.

    About PSI Inc.

I done a Google search and I found the company website: http://www.professionalsurveys.com At the very beginning, I am seeing the following introduction "SEVEN undisclosed young drivers... THREE unknown business use vehicles..ONE company with the best methods of finding them" By this analysis, it sounds like a data mining company working for insurance companies, that could possibly be multiple insurance companies besides USAA. From what I see, this company sounds like it is legitimate and working for USAA. However, here is where I am seeing an ethical issue with an insurance company I have been for so long with. As a normal human being, I have to ask myself, how does PSI make money? Obviously, it has to be from incentives from the insurance companies being able to raise customer rates. According to the USAA website, it looks like they use two companies to contract this information: (https://www.usaa.com/inet/ent_utils/McStaticP ... hLinkPhrase=psi) PSI and QPC. Notice the canned responses for both companies are the same, per the FAQ.

    Conclusion

Here is what I can conclude. The company sounds legitimate and I really do believe they are. It sounds more of an issue of being an ethical company. Here is what I say you do when you get a call from any of these companies. Do not respond to any calls or writing correspondence. What are the insurance companies going to do? Drop my Rates? If this was the case, we would be seeing complaints from customers on various online resources. Insurance companies are not going to risk that backlash. As insurance consumers, if we just refuse to partake in such inquiries, companies such as PSI will eventually go out of business. I found that by doing further searches, I found a website called Jobvent.com According to here, I am finding a lot of complaints by PSI employees of the working conditions. It leads me to believe that disgruntled workers can lead to possible identity theft to member's information. Let me emphasize that I do not know that for sure, but it sounds like a possibility to me. If there are PSI employees posting on this site, look at how bad the spelling is. Let me finish by saying if we say no to updating, companies like PSI no longer have to exist in concerns of having raising rates and/or insurance problems.

PSI is a USAA subcontractor; I called and the USAA representative knew who I was talking about. I found this information on the USAA.com homepage, so it's legitimate.

If you ask USAA they will place you on a list to not receive calls from anyone except actual USAA representatives or you can set e-mail/regular mail as your preferred contact methods instead of the phone. So while the call from PSI set off my scam-paranoia (failing to identify yourselves as an employee of PSI on behalf of USAA is a bad sign, guys) USAA themselves were extremely helpful in making sure it won't happen again.

The only reason PSI says that they are calling on BEHALF of USAA is because USAA requests that they do.  Try opening you mail.  You should have received a letter explaining all of this.

Your conclusions are wrong.  I worked for psi and numerous time I was able to save people money.  Constantly people would update their policy and a child who was no longer in their home was on the policy, or an old vehicle.  A word to the wise:  if USAA totaled out a vehicle it is NOT off your policy.  You must speak directly to a Policy Service representative and request it be removed from the policy eff the date of the accident.  The claims department does not have the authority to remove a vehicle from your policy.

An ex employee. It sure sounds like a current employee or manager. If PSI was so legitimate, we wouldn't hear all these wailings of employees and "ex employee"

Just another attempt by the management of USAA to destroy what once was a great company. They employ outside companies such as this to find excuses to raise your rates. "We identify Home and Auto Policy Uprate Potential" says PSI's site. With no accidents or traffic violations USAA resorts to any other tactics such as using your credit rating to determine how safe a driver you are. They will do anything to raise your rates. They did not always treat their members so poorly. The company distorts their statements about financial success while they give your subscriber savings account less each year. Their latest PR lie is that "We value people over profits". Hahaha. Hopefully the membership will wake up and remove the freeloading t*rds running the company soon before it implodes. They forgot long ago that they work for us. Refuse the caller and tell em why!
