This number popped up on a Laptop, saying "Call this number immediately, do not go any further, it may cause data corruption on your computer."  (Or something close to that!)

Sadly the person who was on the laptop, did call the number. The call was answered by a middle eastern accent, and the caller thought it was just another phone bank gone overseas, and gave them some personal information.

The Middle Eastern person on the other line then proceeded to tell the caller that in order to fix the problem, they would need to download a link, and to pay $400. To fix the laptop.  The caller said I am not paying $400. I just bought this, and it's new.... I will take it to the Apple Store, they can fix it. Then the middle Easterner asked, "well how much can you afford? The caller said nothing. And hung up.

Beware!! It's a new scam, with a trackable phone number!!

Beware this a scam  just shut down your computer and report it in plug it and wait 10 mins it should take the fake virus off. Never call back this number they are in a call center in the Middle East looking for victims to scam and than they will steal all your information credit cards report them.google  computer  scam calls

Thank you, maybe the way to deal with them, is to get everyone to call this number from a pay phone, which will charge the owner of the toll free number, for each call, a minimum of $0.40 per call, and the per minute charges!! 😕
