called me and my wife and didnt have the first name right and wanted the lastb 4 of my ss#. Get lost i TOLD THEM

They are a collection agency for Orchand Bank. Also, they called me....had the last name right, but social security # they had on file was incorrect. I was totally confused when they called me explaining that my mastercard  was delinquent and in collections. I said who are you and what are you speaking about. Thats when I realized they were looking for someone other than me. Never gave them the last 4 digits of my social.

"Dwayne" asked for my wife, said it was from "Capital Management" would only talk to me if I knew last four digits of her social, but gave some reference number. Looking up "Capital Management" they are a collection company who have been reported as finding old debts (ones that have been written off) and requesting (say) 15% of the debt to pay it off.
One example the debt was $518, so they requested $77 - which many people would pay to get them to go away, and is too little to (say) get a lawyer to prosecute this company, since I read this is fraud (ie illegal), but low enough to not be worth anyone's time to stop them!

One discussion group suggested a letter to them:

To whom it may concern:
I have no knowledge of any past due amount owed to Arrow Financial Services or Retailers National Bank therefore I dispute this debt
Unless you can provide contractual evidence that clearly states this alleged debt is my responsibility and clearly showing it has not been time-barred for collection/filing activities, I consider this matter closed. In the meantime please be reminded that you are to cease all collection and/or reporting activities.

They called asking for my ex.  I told them that he didn't live here, he's never lived here, that I hadn't seen him in more than 10 years and to take my name off their list.

Receiving calls daily from 8887871969

I got the strangest voicemail from this number. It started off with an automated voice telling me to hold for an "important communication", but the beginning of her message was cut off, i know because it started in the middle of a word. After about 2 seconds of silence, a message starts playing that says "Hello you have re-" then it cuts off. Im assuming that they're trying to say you have reached. Then heres where it gets really strange. All the automated voices stop, and a deep voice of a very old man comes on, and he says either hold or hello, I cannot tell which. I then hear some fumbling and what sounds like a wrapper opening, and then some chewing. Then the same voice says "Mhmmm" twice. Then the voice mumbles another word that sounds like "good". After this, there's a few seconds of silence, but then its over. The whole things lasts 39 seconds, its very strange.

Caller wants SS#

888-787-1969 calls every day, eg: yesterday at 8 am, 10 am today, no one on other end.

These people are horrible. You can get help at creditboards.

I have been recieving calls all week from this number! No one ever answer they just hang up! I have never even owned a credit card!!! This is so annoying

keep getting calls from this numder for a car thats been payed off for 11 years i have the title but the keep saying i owe 3300 dollers i dont quit figure this one out

These rip offs wanted two $500 cards and said they would give and I.O.U. Said I won 2.5 million.

Called my job saying that they wanted my mailing address and lost four digits of my social security number.  I don't know who this is.

Got a call this evening from this number. Woman said she was calling to collect a debt for Best Buy. Best Buy has my mailing address and has sent me settlement offers. Thought it was legit until she said the number she called. I informed her no that is not the number she reached me at and I've never had any number like that. After informing of the correct contact number and informing that they can mail me a bill for payment, the call "dropped" or "Disconnected". No call back was received. Thinking it's a scam. She said I owe over $4k.

They keep calling, looking for someone I've never heard of and they still call after I asked them to stop.

Called and asked for somone with same last name.  He was polite, apoloqized for mistake.  Sounds like company looking for someone.

Received a call from this number with NO CALLER ID. Thanks for all of your info, I will put a block on their calls.  

These people and others like them are obviously CROOKS.  There is NO REASON for a collection agency to be calling me.  I have zero debt: NO credit card, car, or mortgage debt. Yet, I still get dozens of calls weekly from collection agency block-heads trying to make me pay for an overdue account under a name that is nothing like my name.

There is not a single reason for these companies to call us, unless they think we're easy prey.  They don't have the correct name, address, or SS# according to many of the comments here online.   It can only be tele-SCAMMERS.

This phone number has been registered to us for 21 years and it has been registered on the National Do Not Call List since the inception of the DNC registry.

When is the government going to prosecute the the violators of the DNC registry and the fraudulent "collection agencies"?

I have been receiving calls from 888-787-1969 for two years now. I have actually spoken to people on the phone who will not identify a name of the company or reveal their name for that matter. And of course when I tell them that I know they are scammers they hang up.

I've reported them several times but still I get these calls. I wish there was a way to make it stop. I really do not want to change my number. I've had it for a very long time.

they call my unpublished work number that i do not give out (we have a separate phone number we can give out as our "work telephone"), if I answer, they hang up, if I don't answer they don't leave a message....happens twice a day
