- why meReceived a call from this number today. Guy claiming I had reports of spyware on my computer, trying to sell a product. I NICELY told him I had an unlisted number and please don't call back. He screamed at me to go F---- myself! not once but twice. I just hung up at that point.

- UmbersCaller ID just said "Toll Free Number".
My roommate got a call from this number yesterday from a guy claiming he was from Microsoft customer service, and trying to butter him up to buy some scam antiviral (I'm assuming - I wasn't on the phone, so I'm just going by what my roommate told me).
My roommate hung up, but when he called the number back, he said he got some power company in California. So, the number was obviously spoofed.
Not long after, though, his computer started messing up badly, so we're thinking whoever it was already had my roommates computer with a trojan or something, and was just waiting for a hang up. Wonder if he'll call back tomorrow, and say something like "Told you so."
We disconnected my roommate from the net. I copied my antivirals and anti-malware for him to use, and I think we got it. But, won't know until he fires up the computer tomorrow. We also called the phone company, and let them know, incase there is a trojan or virus in the modem we use. - bewareMultiple calls from this unknown number. I let all uknown numbers go to voice mail, and they no not leave a message. I have blocked this number.

- MPLIndian accented fool called my mom saying he was from Microsoft and tried to her to go to her PC and login and do a sequence of keys. Must be some sort of trojan or junk on her PC. I had her call her Geek Squad service to take a quick look and see if they could find anything on her PC. She has anti-virus and malware protection installed but might be a new one that has not been discovered yet.

- MrAsomeThis place called me and I answered the phone with an Arabic accent and said "Thank you for calling customer support how may I help you" he then said what and I repeated myself and then he said he liked my voice. I continued to tell him that if there was nothing I could help him with that I would get into trouble and then he was like yes you can talk for a long time. - Mike in MDSCAM ALERT! Google "Windows Tech Support Scam" or "Microsoft Tech Support Scam". DO NOT follow any of their directions. They will try to get to you access a website that will give them remote access to your computer. Then they will install ransomware and demand money to "fix" the problem. They will also likely install real malware that will send your userids and passwords to them to try and steal your identity, credit card info and bank info.
