- Brittany| 4 repliesan irs agent is waiting on my call back! , once I called back, they're asking to speak to the owner of my phone. Took long pauses once I asked a question, I ask for them to take my number off there callin list and they refused, so I blocked the number, I'm sure it's an scam!
- Caller: No idea
- Call type: Prank
- Angela| 3 repliesComplete Scam. The IRS doesn't do this type of contact. I happen to be an IRS SA. Do not give your name. Do not give money. Do not call back.
- Caller: Fraudster
- Jo| 1 replyScammers. Saying they are the IRS. Telling me what's going to happen is the Sheriff's office will show up at my door and handcuff me and take me to jail and I need to listen to the entire call before I could ask questions. That I owed over $4,000.00 is incorrect reporting of taxes. Shame on them, they probably get over on some people, especially the elderly.

- MJD| 3 replies"IRS agent waiting for your callback. IRS is filing lawsuit against you from our Federal Database. IRS Agent waiting for call back". I know my taxes are paid in full! No mistakes! Once I did have an error and a real woman from the DA's office called to inform me and we took care of it. Total scam. Please, if any of you question this call, call your District Attorney's office and ask.

- Female replies to MJDThey stated that they were the federal crime investigation unit, and said that I owed $4,455 dating back five years. Funny thing is I was a minor less than five years ago. They said that I had three lawsuits pending against me from the IRS. 1.violation of IRS services 2.violation of United State Citizen Services 3.willful disinformation of government organization. I could barely understand anything they were saying and I asked to be transferred at least 5 times I also asked to speak to the supervisor who gave me his name as officer Luke Steven badge number SR1132070. One of the representatives got very belligerent and said that I was using the f bomb on a recorded phone line and I was not then got frustrated because I asked him so many questions and asked me to hand the phone over to my husband which I stated he wasn't available which,he commented I can see on video that he's there and I was asked him to repeat himself and he refused saying that he didn't say anything of the sort. Once I got over to the supervisor again officer Luke Steven, because somehow we got disconnected or he hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to the officer Luke Steven again that's again badge numbee SR1132070,which i repeated twice for verification that I would get the same exact person. A gentleman answered also with a thick accent that I could barely understand and verified that he was indeed Luke Steven after me asking at least three times. Near the end of the call he tells me ma'am my name is Sam Wilson so I asked him so you lied about your identity? But he came up with all sorts of stories. He definitely seems like a scam guys Sam Wilson said that they had issued a warrant for my arrest and that they would send someone to my house even going as far as asking me and do you want me to show up at your house. Also stated that once the paperwork is completed and the sheriff will contact me from my city to hand me the documentation of my IRS lawsuit apparently. Again it seems very suspicious because I'm I talk to you I did not use my married name because we have gotten married after 2015 I use my maiden name but somehow they had my updated address they had an updated name and wanted me to verify all this personal information and I did tell them that the only thing that I will verify is my name .
- AnnReceived message stating it was the IRS and I needed to return the call immediately. Could barely understand what the first "Agent" was telling me other than an arrest warrant had been issued for tax fraud something about homeland security I think. . . . Was told the line was being recorded by the irs and any information would be used to prosecute me. Six officers were going to come and hand cuff me and I could either go to the "courthouse" or handle the outstanding debt of over $4k over the phone. Not sure what was going on so I said of course I don't want to go to jail. They were very threatening and would not allow questions. So, IRS agent Erica Johnson badge #irm74796 was put on the line and (these people are really rude) and I was told the same thing as the first "agent". I made an excuse to call them back and went on the irs website where this scam was described - noting that the IRS does not contact you via phone. The agent was insistent that I received mail from them sometime in July (couldn't understand date) and I told them I received nothing. They said that was not true. So, I called Erica Johnson back while on the web site and she proceeded to tell me that I was going to be arrested this evening. I interrupted her quoting the IRS guidelines - no contact by phone, letter in the mail, etc. and then I proceeded to read her the scam on the website . She hung up on me

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. IRS has enough administrative authority under the IRS Code and related regulations to collect all taxes lawfully due the federal government. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest as related to ordinary tax disputes. Having a deficiency in taxes owed by way of audit is NOT a crime. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks or Itunes cards or similar for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
. - CWG40 replies to JosieTotal scam. See my entry.
- CWG40 replies to MJDDA has nothing to do with federal income taxes. IRS does NOT initiate contact by phone. US mail only. No need to call anyone.
