I also just received the same letter.... Mark Sims the VP of the "Travel Awards Divison" informed me that I had won 2 tickets with a vale of up to $1,400.00. I need to respond by March 5th, 2010 so I can receive my prize. Mark Sims would like for me to call if I choose to decline the award so some other poor soul can get scammed. His number is: 1-888-844-1603 & my confirmation is: 8940.

    What a scam.

I got the same letter: Airfare for two ($1,400) with a confirmation #8940 and I need to respond by March 17,2010. No info on the web on his company or about him...
Does sound pretty "fishy" (Note the fish on the letterhead).
I did not get a call.

This could be the unknown caller who never leaves a message.  I never answer if the caller id doesn't give any info.  I did get the letter with the confirmation number though.  According to what I can find out it's a time share sales pitch, ie. give us 90 minutes of your time and we will reward you with airfare valued at $1,400.  Of course, certain restrictions apply, such as; "you may only travel on the 5th Wednesday of the last month of the leap year that occurs in 2035"

Oh yeah, the saying a rose is a rose is a rose, but for any other name is still a rose....

a scam follows the same footsteps...

same scenerio here... same phone number and same confirmation number...

gotta love when a letter arrives with no return address... your address handwritten by what appears to be an uneducated individual...

geez... i'm surprised that in this day and age, one would even think to do such a thing...

    LIVE ON FINN & GILLIAM....

This was not a phone call but I'm reporting it as it matches calls that I have received about winning something.  I received a letter that arrived in a hand addressed envelope with no return address.  Inside was a letter showing a letterhead of Finn & Gilliam and signed by Mark Sims, Vice President, Travel Awards Division.  Like many phone calls I've received the letter states word for word that "We have attempted contacting you several times without Success.  This is our last attempt."  I keep hoping they are telling the truth but they continue to be annoying.  Couldn't find a listing on the internet for Finn & Gilliam even though the footer of their letter shows many cities.  A person from this web site reporting on 888-827-3172 did call the number and found that they are a marketing firm working for various travel agencies, time shares, resorts, etc.  He believes the ticket offer may be legitimate but you have to listen to a 90 minute presentation to qualify.  The letter also states "Certain retrictions apply." on the airfare.  I won't call the number nor return their phone calls as it could be interpreted as doing business with them which will allow them to bypass the National do-not-call list.  Not sure if it could also allow companies they represent to call you.

On the phone with them now, *67 used of course.

It is sponsored by Tradewinds, a Rockland MD resort.  You have to go sit through a 90 minute timeshare meeting to get the tickets.

    No thanks!

Got the same letter today, found our state as the last one on the "letterhead" I would wager that changes based on your address.  Interesting tactic but definitely a scam!

I also received a letter in the mail saying that I have qualified for an award of roundtrip airfare for two. They attempted to contact me several times...etc.  Except the letterhead says Roebuck & Schmidt with a different phone number.  Letter also signed by Mark Sims, VP, Travel Awards Division.  Company does not come up on google despite supposedly being in NY, Mass, Penn, Ill, WA, and CO.  Will NOT call the number. SCAM!!!

I had some calls on a machine about a month ago about some prize but never followed through. Then I get a Finn and Gillam letter today also hand signed by "Mark", same content as above, deadline March 19. There is a Tradewinds Hotel in Rockland, Maine, if that is the resort doing the promotionals...
