- Iamajerk4notpayingdebtsbutcollectorssuck| 3 repliesOh, what these people working for collection outfits do!
I think they think they're funny
This number Googles to a flower grower or seller in Forestdale, Rhode Island
I have read here or elsewhere that there is a device or software that allows the collectors to display whatever info on caller ID that they type in, which is what also allows them to show 222-222-2222 or 555-555-5555 or whatever they wish on your caller ID
Illegal?
I think so
Are they gonna get caught, esp. when they're trying to follow-up on a valid debt (which is gonna by BK's on, though, anyway)?... not unless someone has more energy to spend on these lowest-of-all-job-holding persons than yours truly- Call type: Debt collector
- Bailout Boy| 2 repliesThe call is from American Express, looking for someone I never heard of.
- Caller: American Express

- deana replies to Iamajerk4notpayingdebtsbutcollectorssuckIt really makes me mad when people borrow thousnads upon thousands of dollars from credit cards , dont make their payments and then get mad at debt collectors, what do they think its free money. sure theyre happier than a pig in %%%% when they get the money but when it comes to paying it back its a total different story, believe me i wish it was like the good old mob days where theyd actually show up at your door to get their money back, everyone thinks debt collectors are so bad, well we have to follow laws treat our clients with respect, even though we certainly dont get it in return , most of the time, and listen to being called everything in the book, without being allowed to say whats really on our mind or we will get fired, at least we have a job, lowlifes that get credit cards, using fraudulent info, never intending to pay the money back are the low lifes::::::
- deana replies to Bailout Boy| 1 replySO AMERICAN EXPRESS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TRY AND COLLECT THE MILLIONS OWED BY DEAD BEATS WHO BORROW MONEY AND NEVER PAY IT BACK, PEOPLE FREAK OUT IF AMEX CLS AND ITS A WRONG NUMBER DOES ANYONE EVER STOP AND THINK THAT MAYBE JUST MAYBE THESE DEADBEATS GIVE OUT THE WRONG NUMBEER OR THAT THEY MAY HAVE HAD YOUR CURRENT NUMBER B4 YOU, I WISH CREDIT CARDS DIDNT EVEN LOAN OUT CREDIT, THEN EVERYONE WOULD BE CRYING THE BLUES AS RECENTLY EXPERIENCED, LAWYERS ARE THE WORST FOR EX THERE WAS ONE WHOSE BALANCE WAS 10,000 HE WAS ONLY PAYING THE INTEREST ON HIS ACCT BECAUSE HIS LIMIT WAS LOWERED BECAUSE HIS ACCT WAS PAST DUE 5 OUT OF 6 MONTHS, CAN YOU IMAGINE IF YOU OWED THE LWYR MONEY AND YOU WERE LATE 5 OUT OF 6 MONTHS, WOULD HE EXTEND YOUR CREDIT I DONT THINK SO>>>>>>>>>>>>>AND WHY EVERYONE GOES TO THESE SETTLEMENT COMPANIES WHO TOTALLY RUIN YOUR CREDIT RATING OR DEBT CONSOLIDATION WHO CHARGE YOU TO PAY YOUR BILLS, THAT MAKES SENSE, MONEY THAT COULD BE GOING TOWARDS YOUR DEBT
- deana replies to Iamajerk4notpayingdebtsbutcollectorssuck| 1 replywhy would it matter what shows up on your caller id if your trying to avoid paying back money you borrowed in the first place who is in the wrong here, people are screwed in the head, if someone owed you thousands of dollars are you just going to let them off, i really doubt it
- One more time| 2 repliesI'll explain it to y'all ONE more time: These calls do NOT come from American Express and they have NOTHING to do with debt collection. It is a 'company' that uses software to make it look like the call comes from American Express. All they want for you to do is to punch in your credit card number so they can go shopping on your dime. Yes, you will be routed to the real Amex, but by that time you have already given the crooks the info they want.
- jppolish replies to One more time| 1 replyHi I would like to know how do you know that isn't american express? 888-892-6180 call me looking for my ex husband. That number called my home phone, my mom and my husband's cell phone. My home phone isn't in my name it's in my husband's name so is his cell phone. My mom's phone isn't in her name either. So I am wondering how these people found out this information. I even called American Express and they said that 888-892-6180 doesn't show up as one of their numbers. I believe that it is fraud but how weird is it that they were asking for my ex-husband?
- jppolish replies to jppolishOh and I blocked my phone number when calling them and they knew my phone number and address. Which I didn't give them.
- XThey called 3 nights in a row at the same time, so I called the number and they want me to key in my AmEx number. Didn't.
- imthedjI also have got a call - I answer and it's recording that says, "This is regarding an important business matter. Please call 1-888-892-6180."
Now, I have been behind with American Express before - we had a bit of difficulty last year when my husband had to go on disability for 3 months - TOTALLY our fault - but when collections called me, they called, and someone came on the line to work out payment arrangements.
I am not behind at all with anything, but it says "Call for an important business matter?" This number also now calls me about 8 times a day. I called it back once - and it just says, "Enter your American Express account number."
Call AMEX, they want it too, but you CAN bypass it... You CANNOT bypass THIS system. If it was real collections, why would they make it impossible for you to get through to a rep?- Caller: Fraud
- Call type: Debt collector
- XRecording about "important business matter." I don't even have an AmEx card! But they keep calling. They probably know I called back once to see what it was all about, and think they have a sucker!
- Call type: Telemarketer
- r| 1 replyThey keep leaving messages on my work voicemail. I receive calls twice per day. It says: "This is regarding an important business matter. Please call 1-888-892-6180."
- Call type: Telemarketer
- AlThis number called me a little while ago and I answered because I was curious. It was a recorded message saying, "Please call regarding an important business matter." I'm afraid to call the number back because of what another poster said! I want to add that it's possible it could be AmEx because they were attempting to get in touch with my husband a few weeks ago (we're separated) and he's out of the country. Not my problem, though, and I wish they'd stop calling!!!
- MouseWe get a call every day from 888-892-6180 telling us to call back "regarding an important business matter". Yah RIGHT we will! If it WERE one of our two credit card companies or one bank, they get a hold of us another way and always have.
- Caller: 800 Service
- LisaIt is a scam - NOT an American Express number. I called Amex and asked them. I just wish I could figure out how to get these yahoos to QUIT calling me! I can't tell you how many times the phone ringing has woken up my baby...
- Wondering replies to deanaGee, do you work for a collections or THIS collection agency?
Hope you never lose your job, or find yourself with thousands of dollars worth of medical bills that insurance has denied.
Collection agencies only make money if they collect the debt. Try to work directly with AE, and not these parasites. - Wondering replies to deanaMaybe they should stop some of their predatory practices.
Maybe they should stop employing idiots like you. - Wondering replies to rYou know it is against the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to contact you at work.
California State laws are even more strict. - wisgirlI got a weird message that said "This is an important business matter please call 888-832-6180". So I called it, it went to American Express and it asked for me to key in my 16 digit number. I did not key it in, but got transferred to someone. He then asked for the number and brought up my account. Which is current, and not overdue. He said that it must have been some mistake by their company and that he would have my number removed from their list. But usually these calls are because your account is overdue and you owe money. I still think the whole situation is really weird, but since I did talk with someone who new how much was charged on my account. I assume that I was talking with someone at American Express. Why don't they leave a message saying this is American Express and we are calling about your account, instead of "this is an important business matter". I still have an uneasy feeling about it, but oh well.
- Caller: American Express?
- Call type: Debt collector
- Carolyn| 1 replyGot a recorded call saying it's "an important business matter". My bills are paid up to date and I don't have an American Express Card. Regarding Deana's rant, no one purposely gets into debt and they don't have to tolerate harassing calls because of it! The collectors has to identify themselves, or they are in violation. Why did you come to this site anyhow!?!
- Caller: don't know heard it's American Express
