Someone from this number is calling my home for another party. After speaking with this yahoo....says he is in law enforcement-law agency wanting to contact the party within 48 hours, Mr. Jones at extension 725, he continues to call me after me telling him not to call here.  Will be filing an official complaint to ivestigate him for harrassment calling.  He called here 5 times today as I informed him I would not give him the persons phone number...says he was call me 5 times per day..... It is CCS when you call the number..

This company sent a fax to the HR Manager at my office asking for location verification information on me.  They are Check & Credit Reporting, Inc.  They collect for payday loans and I don't know who else.  A year or so ago I took our some payday loans, and somehow $300 from Paragon Funding ended up in my account, it was not a company I had applied with and had no documentation for the loan.  I had printed everything on every loan I applied for.  There was a phone number with the transaction on my bank account so I called and they said they would email the loan documents to me.  After several requests this never happened.  Now a year later this collection agency calls me.  It was Mr. Jones just like the entry above from J. Spencer.  I thought he was calling about something else, and set up a payment plan.  That night, I went to get the documents on the account I thought he was calling about, and realized that was not it.  I called him back and he said it was for Paragon Funding, and I explained what had happened with that company and told him to void our payment arrangement because I want verification that I owe this money.  He said okay, he would get them on the phone, then said oh wait, it's Thursday, you will have to call me back Monday and I'll have it for you. Monday, I left a voice message, no call back from him.  They first payment went through.  I had put a stop payment on it, but they sent it through under a different name and changed the amount from one payment of $200 to two payments of $100 so the stop payment did not recognize it.  I called him again and this time he said he could send me a letter stating what I owe, I said no, I want to see loan documents you say I signed requesting the loan.  He said oh no, that would take months I can't do that.  I said well then I'm not paying.  I closed the account.  Now, this morning this fax arrives at my office.  It is the same phone number as the office of Mr. Jones so I know it is the same people and they obviously tried to send the second payment through and it failed.  These people are mean and aggressive, very hard to stop, if it is even possible.  They are making my life miserable.

I have been receiving a tremendous amount of calls from this number for about the past 4 months now.  First they asked to speak with a Teresa Pearson, I told them they had the wrong number!  They continue to call me at least 5 times a day!  At the beginning I returned call and some machine put me on hold, I finally hung up.  When you answer the call it's a recording.  Now they are calling me, leaving threatening and harrassing messages.  
They call from Monday to Sunday as early as 7:00 a.m. what is wrong with these people?  I know we are living in tough times you can't be to careful!

A man named Mark Johnson left a message on my cell phone on 12/30/09 at 4:39pm stating he was looking for someone and I was the contact person for him.  He said it was imperative that I give this message to that person or legal charges was going to be filed against him because someone had filed a complaint against him for suspicious behavior with his name and social.

I got a call in Dec 2009 from this number but ext. 734 a Mr. Stone. He was looking for my son who dosen't live with us. He stated that he would be charged with a felony if not paid. it was for a pay day loan from 2008. I had just had surgery and told him this. He told me he was attorney. I paid and he said he would send payment info. never received anything.Can't find web site either. Guess I got scamed! Is there anything that can be done?

i checked the messages on my phone and i was to call an ext. 755. same thing i wa on hold for a while than it asked me to leave a number. The message that was left was very scetchy and the person could not be made out because she was so nervous. this has to be a scam and i apprieciate all the accounts here so i do not give them any information.

You can file a police report and report it as fraud with your local law enforcement. Also, you can file a complaint against the company & phone number where he contacted you from on ftc.gov complaint site. A debt collection company is  not allowed to provide information about another person's debt to a third party. Also the threat of arrest is illegal as well.

You may want to contact your bank and report this as fraud. They may return your money.

I received a call from 1-888-895-8703 on 3/29/2010 at 9:45 p.m. -- they indicated they were calling regarding allegations found against me and that I have 48 hours to respond.  They did not say what for or give any other information other than if I did not respond I will receive information, sent I don't know where that I refuse to respond

Call the number back....extension too.  Give them the case # they gave you.  
He keys in the case number and says, this is the case about Bill Smith.  He will start spouting
the information about the "case" and want you to verify the "last four digits of the SSN".  
Tell him....I have no idea what they are.  Here's what I was told.....YOU SAID YOU ARE BILL SMITH!  I said, No I didn't, you didn't ask.  You said, this is the case about Bill Smith.....I said, ok.  He then said, WILL YOU TELL HIM?!?!?  I said, NO!  He said, Do you talk with him?  I said, Sometimes.  He said, THE COURTS WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS!!  I said, good....let them.  He then hung up.

That is ridiculous.... Sherry u owe the debt. Why don't you just pay what you owe. U make sad excuses to get out of default that you are responsible for

Seems like a SCAM. I was just phoned by "Civil Procedures" call center at (502) 164-7558. A very nice lady, Rebecca Lynd, said that I would need to be present tomorrow to be served with civil papers (not Criminal) She gave me the name of the company sending the papers, STONE WHITMAN, a case # and the companies # 888-895-8703. It sounded like a scam when Rebecca would not give me a # for the "call center" however it did appear on my phone. I had a lawyer friend of mine call Stone Whitman and upon identifying herself as a lawyer there was a busy tone. It happened three times exactly like that. I can go no further and don't like what they're up to. It would be scary for most people.

Yes the same thing happened to me today.  They called on my cell earlier with a 404-164-7558 number and then they called at my home with a 678-164-7558.  Both area codes are the same as the number they called.  The individual relayed that this was in reference to a Visa card (which I never had).  I don't know what this scam is but I certainly need to find out.

I also received multiple calls from the same 404-164-7558 stating that it was a civil case with a case number and that I must call this 888 number.  I was driving when I finally took this call and unable to obtain the 888 number and co they had referenced to sound like a law firm.  Same scam on different calling number 404-084-1544.

It stated to press 2 to have this message texted to you and then it repeats back your cell number.  Its nothing but a scam.  When you call the numbers back it goes into a chime and "the number you dialed is a non working number."

Sarah Duke from Stone Whitman & Assoc called me from 800-895-8703 and tells me there is a Cival Case pending against me in regards to a prior to 2000 Visa debt that no longer appears on my credit report. She said I was being sued in a cival court and they wanted to see if I would be home to recieve them the following day.  She gave me a case # and I talked to a Thomas Shultz at ext 515. He stated that I would be served paper the following day and unless I paid this debt which I assumed had been written off years ago, that I would have to pay court costs,  ect. if I did not agree to make full payment on this amount. Unfortunately I gave them info that they didn't have before and did not realize it until they asked me to confirm my address in another state, that it occured to me  this was not legal. I closed my bank accounts as there was very little there in the first place (not even enough to cover this small amount). Since I am on a fixed income that doesn't even cover my day to day expenses, this has caused me a lot of anxiety. I will be calling local authorities to report this.

This is a huge scam...Do not comply with any demands made by this collection agency

This is a total SCAM. Do not give them any info. They took over $700 from me on an account that is 13 years old. Do your research before giving account info,.

everyone that has received theses calls from Stone Whitman & Associates need to go to your police dept and report them and eventually they will have to check into this. call the police now it is a scam

Notify your bank, credit card company. etc and keep an eye on your credit report.  I'm not sure if it is possible but, you may want to contact the credit bureaus to see if they can put an alert on your information.
