Some guy claiming he was from merchant services wanted me to fax him over my monthly statement to 1-888-913-2009. He was not from my merchant services.

I had the same call.
They claim they can get better rates for you. Just fax your statement to us for viewing of your rates and average purchases. They know the layout of the invoice from your merchant.
I wouldn't send them any documents. Somehow they will use that info and you will get scammed.

Just had my call from these people asking me to fax (to 1-888-913-2009) a copy of my debit machine statement (with the chain and merchant # blacked out mind you) for them to view and get me better rates. I asked him his company's name. Ryan was his name with very strong East Indian(?) accent and a long wait for my answers to get through to his phone which tells me he had to be overseas.  

He stated it was Merchant Cash Direct and led me to their website www.merchantcashdirect.com ..... well I went there and seen their toll free number 1-800-374-4728 to see if this man respresented them.

AND GUESS WHAT   'This number is no longer in service...' etc.  

Imagine that !!!!

Then while browsing website I came across the fax number 1-866-751-6284 .  This is not even close the fax number he gave me!

Cons !

I truly feel for the one that get suckered into these phone scams.  They are truly deceiving and believable.

Got a call from them saying that they can lower our rate.  At first the person said that they are a non-profit organization helping merchant to get better rate from the merchant's current merchant service provider.  After talking to their supervisor then found out they are a merchant service broker (talk to her for 20 min. before she admiits that they are a broker).  They want your rate information to sell you their service.

and again he phoned today, this time saying his name is Brad.  OMG.  I got so angry I had to yell at him and tell him his website is bogus.  Stated to him that the phone number is no longer in service and he could not believe it.  

Does he seriously think I am F(*&ing stupid?????

Same experience! A girl called and asked me to fax my statement to this number (1.888.913.2009) saying I can get 1% Disc rate. I told her I can't because of so many fraud. She said I can black my merchant No. I ask "if I black no. how would you know me and offer better rate". She said they had their way to know. So funny! They really think people are that stupid.

I am curious what they are will do after getting the info.

There was a guy Asking for my transaction fee rates...I faxed them my moneris merchant statement on the same no.....

After 2 weeks they got back to me with a lower rates from moneris itself...
I was amazed by the rates which they offered me..........
But the only thing i found was that i dont need to pay monthly rent for the machine........... and i m gonna b in contract with moneris for 2 years. so just a one time amt for 2 years that was good.......

However this no.(1888-913-2009) was in no service when i checked out.....
My Question is how they do such business with a no. which is not in service............???????????????????????

Similar experience but....

After I refused to fax statement...they called when I was out & a staff member was led to believe that there was a problem with our account - "statement needed to be faxed immediately" - caller advised staff to blacken out merchant # as well as chain #. She did so, but I'm sure there is still info they can use.
I have reported to our supplier fax was forwarded Attn John Adams 1-888-913-2009.
I knew something wasn't right - guess I'll find out - hopefully before something happens!

they just called here and req the same thing except we are a bookkeeping company and they wanted one of our clients (who have accidentally accepted to this before) they send you out stuff at 10 times the price, so this time when he called he wanted my clients merchant info which obvioucly we know these scams get them weekly. Funny enough is name was Andy Parker (isnt he from Spiderman lmao) and he spoke really fast as to try and get you to agree and would get argumentive as well when we said no he said he would call back or we could call the 1 888 913 2009 number.

Have been getting calls from various people at "Canadian Merchant Services" for weeks and assuming that they were selling something have been ignoring up til now.  

I did speak to a "Janet Woods" (had a very thick accent) today and got the identical spiel that everyone else has been hearing. I'm glad that i googled the company name and was able to find this site to confirm that it was a scam. When I asked for a phone # to contact them I was told to call the fax # (888 913 2009) that she had already given me. Likely. When I did phone it later it just gave me a regular fax ring.  

While she was on the phone, I pulled up the site she referred to(www.canadianmerchantsgroup.ca) and noticed that the website doesn't even have a phone number listed anywhere! Click on some links too and you can tell that it's bogus.

When I told her that I would not be faxing anything over she then passed me over to her supervisor.  I told him to take us off their list and not call back.

I guess the same guy called me too (1-888-913-2009) saying he is from (East Indian Accent) Canadian Merchant Service & will show me how to reduce charges on our debit terminal. He was really insisting me but I said give me your number and I'll call you.... Be aware!

i have received a number of calls from these guys.Typical East Indian Accent named guy "JEFF WILSON" harrassing me on calls..........to fax my bussiness details like how money i make on visa and master---i abused him many a times then too he calls me no shame at all--i fell ashamed smetime--i think these people call from a call-center from mumbai----i m just fed up plz help

Heather be honest with You. you  think its a scam this our website add www.canadianmerchants.ca...then u will come to know what u r loosing now ,your self feel ashamed to abuse the people over the ,you dont have any quality of businesswomen ...................thanks

Got a call from them at my daughter's Hair Salon business saying they were from the Canadian Merchant Association.  I asked if they were selling anything, they said they help merchants understand their rights and that these POS providers are charging way to much, so they will help me determine how much they are overcharging so I can contact my merchant company to advise them to give me a lower rate.  I gave him my home number and he called again today asking me to fax the statement over to him, but luckly my fax was not working and I just took a hunch to look online at this fax number.  Well I am glad I did before sending him anything.  I will definately tell him to get lost the next time he calls.  He is very persistant.  His name was John, no phone number on caller display either.

I've read the blogs, and it seems that these people are "back at it"! The exact same scenario happened to us - it was literally a "shakedown" in that they called four times in one day the next day "Ryan"(obviously from overseas) who presented himself as a Supervisore, asked me point blank without any adieu, "have you faxed the statements?"  When I queried as to why I should he became very impatient with me.
I asked him for his number, and proceeded to call the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (we are members)to report them.  The rep. there stated that she is pretty sure that these people have a "cease and desist" against them by Visa/Moneris.  
Be very careful.

Same as above - wanted us to FAX our statement (supposedly calling from canadianmerchantsgroup.ca), but gave us a different FAX number: 1-888-764-8889).  We didn't send them anything, and don't plan to!!!
