- Jim Robinett| 6 repliesI received a call from Shelly Driscoll, a grant eligibility specialist with Global Business Funding on Friday of last week. I need to have verification that this person is actually a member of your company and that she she legally working as a representative for your organization.
Your website specifies funding from $1,000,000 to $100,000,000. However she is offering to find free grant money for my business for a fee of $7500. She wants to have $2500 up front for this service and the only guarentee I can see from the fax she sent to me is that if at least $100,000 is not obtained for my business the first year, then they will give me an extra year at no charge. This really sounds to good to be true and you what they say about things that sound to good to be true----they usually aren't true.
I can find no information on her on the internet and nothing to make me believe that she is actually legally offering this service. The telephone number she gives out is 888-936-7423 and the address of 10161 Park Run Drive #150, Las Vegas, NV 89145 does not match the telephone number or address of the business known as Global Business Funding which I located on the internet. This address also shows to be registered to an entirely different organization. I can find no information on this organization.
The logo on the fax she sent to me does not match the Global Business Funding which I located on the internet. I am reporting this to the FCC, the FBI and our local law inforcement offices as it appears to be a scam. Also, the call I received had a lot of noise in the background which sounded as though this call came from a telemarketer's call center which might handle many calls for different entities.- Caller: Global Business Funding
- chefI also received a call from the same person making the same statements. I did a reverse phone number look up for the number that I received the call from and could not find anything out about the number.

- Boston Guy replies to Jim Robinett| 2 repliesI got a call from a Jeffrey Seltzer yesterday.
Same deal as you, sound like the most pathetic scam ever.
He had all the tricks and stops pulled out on this one.
Telling me he worked with big wall street companies, Merryl Lynch was one.
Yet he couldnt tell me who was the president while he was employed by them for 10 years.
He said he used to own a jewelry store in boston and even named the street.
I happened to have lived close by and had done real estate in the city.
I asked him what the address was and he then said he had forgotten and that he was only a private investor, that he never worked there.
he even said hes got cancer but hes just trying to help people before he checks out for good.
After answering a few questions i told Jeff to give me a call back after he thought we could receive a grant. He said not to go any where because his researchers could plug me in the database and give me an answer within minutes.
He had me on hold for less than a minute (god forbid i hung up and had a chance to reconsider what he was saying) and then came on and said i was approved.
There is no way he could've relayed all the info i gave him and had someone type it in (let alone do a database search) in under a minute.
The give away to me was when he asked me :
Jeff "how much money do you want"
Me " Jeff I'd be happy with anything"
Jeff " i need a dollar amount to plug in"
Me " ahh okay 50 to 100 thousand would work well"
Jeff " im putting you in for 400 thousand, is that okay"
What a scam, dont trust him, havnt been able to find a thing on this guy so far except your blog.
I figured i'd respond so people wont fall for this joke in the future.
If anything changes and i get money ill be sure to post again.
Please dont hold you breath. - Brien Gittens replies to Jim Robinett| 1 replyMr Robinet,
I received the same call and I have the same problem but, I did find their website. The actual address is GOGLOBALFUNDING.COM (the spelling of the web address is slightly different from the business name). I checked with the Better Business Bureau about this company and they have the same address that is on the service agreement (which is a good sign) but, the BBB has no information on them (good or bad) which leaves me in the same place. No information. I checked them with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and they have no information, good or bad. I also checked out WHOIS to determine who the website belongs to and it belongs to:

End of Whois Information
The owner of the website is not the person I spoke to which doesn't mean the business isn't legitimate (at least he is in Las Vegas and not Nigeria). But I am still in the same place. No where>
IF you check out RIPOFFREPORT (which I did) it gives you information on how to protect yourself by determining if the website or company is legitimate. On the RIPOFFREPORT website I plugged in GLOBAL BUSINESS FUNDING and received no complaints. I found information about other funding companies that can be helpful in determining if this company is legit but I found nothing that specifically relates to this company.
This should be good news but I still have a bad feeling.
By the way, the person that called me wants $1,500 up front (not $2,500) and he offers the same 12 month guarantee for free if no funding is found the first year.
My question is, if he can find so many investors that are interested in my business in such a short period of time why not wait for their payment after we receive funding? That would make them look more legitimate.
This reply is getting kind of long so I will end it by saying this offer does sound too good to be true but, I would hate to pass it up without doing some due diligence. As a small business owner I need the funding; and as a small business owner I do not have the money to waste, but beyond that, I DON'T LIKE BEING CHEATED!! Even if they were asking for $100.00 up front, I don't like being cheated. I don't cheat my clients and I do not appreciate being taken advantage of by other vendors. So if you find more info on this company please let me know.
I hope I was helpful. - Diane replies to Brien GittensI received a call from Jeff Seltzer from 888-936-7423 *405 on Wed congratulating me on Good News I am receiving that I have been waiting on. I called back and left a msg for him to call me back. He called me back this afternoon on Mon, 8/4 at 1:00 pm. He started telling me that he was an official Grant Writing Service and that I have been selected to qualify for employer grants. I asked him now much is this going to cost me and he said $7,500. Half down after I qualify and Half after I have received $100,000 in Grants. I tried to give him my partner's information who handles contracts and agreements but he said that he didn't have time to take the information. I offered to send him an email but he said he is too busy to deal with email and that it was responsibility to contact him if we were interested. He said he had cancer and had a treatment and wasn't feeling well but wanted to make sure he returned his calls. I took his contact information again and found this blog on the internet. Thank God that people take a few minutes of their precious time to share in these blogs. I could tell he was in an office with other people on the phone around him. Maybe he has a legitimate product to offer to me. However, asking for money without receiving money first is not a reasonable business practice. A signed contract would cover the agreement.
- ace| 1 replysame as everyone else except no cancer. after much debate, he lowered to 1800 up front, 7000 on the backend.
Carrie Odonnell called first and then I told her we should talk later when i got grant approval. She called back actually a few hours later and handed off to the specialist Marco Esparca. He said they were in business for 3 years and have zero complaints from the BBB. I told him I would check up with my lawyer friend and he said he wouldn't be surprised if my friend would want to climb on board as well......I don't know. this is the first site i've come across and I will be back with more info...- Caller: global business funding
- aace replies to aceok update to my last message
They asked for me to send a copy of my check i would be giving them??
they also said they would be sending fedex to pickup my contract??
I don't get it.
I ask what the reason for a copy of the check was and he said "to move things along. That doesn't mean anything. he even said I could blackout the check info......that's what they are looking for. the routing number!!
they get the contract with a copy of the check with the amount and then take the funds out of the account. That's my guess anyway. - Jay Jay| 4 repliesI kept getting calls from a machine that kept asking me if i was interested in grant money for my business so i finally i gave in and just wanted to see what it was all about. So someone contact me by the name of Chet. This person gave me the same phone number and goglobalfunding.com website but the phone numbers do not match and the number on my caller ID came up as 702-478-3562 . He told me the fee is $7500 and he would need almost $4000 upfront. I think he is off his rocker!!! I hope im wrong but i would love to hear things from other people about this company.
- Mr. Allan replies to Edna| 18 repliesI have alos had a response from this company in offering the same as all of you. I aksed for any and all refrences and all they gave was a fax with detailed info step by step of what to do nothing else came in for their credentials. NOT GOOD. They also said to me $7500.00 is their fee for the year and she will cut it in half and only ask for $3750.00 before the reminaing is due at the end of the next year. She also stated to me that they will grant 300k for a small buinsess and and that I was only eligible for 100k. I would have to fill out a lteer of intent as well as a buiness plan for thier records to submitt to 80-100k investors that they have waiting by as a "Free Money" grant eligiable for small buiness due to the market the way it is today.
I didnt have peace of mind on this and would like to warn all people out there getting calls from these people. I would agree that if it's true good to be true then it is!!! DO NOT fall for this and congratulations in doing you homework before you gave them any money pat yourself on the back!!! - Dolly replies to Jay JayWe got the same story from Chet. He said he's worked for this company for 2 years. I called the BBB and they responded that this company justed started in June, 2008. Also, I asked about the address 10161 Park Run Dr., # 150, Las Vegas , in which he stated was a 5 story building - BBB said this address is a mail drop-off!!! AMAZING... I called Las Vegas City Hall and they also stated this business obtained their business license on June 2, 2008 and the owner is Gines Mickey/president 100%. All this sounds to be is a BIG SCAM!!!
- Pat| 3 repliesI got a call from Alicia Curtis for grant funding. She told me the company had been in business for 6 years in Nevada. I got the same address and phone number as others.
I am so glad this site exists so we can dicuss this business. They offered to write a grant - asking for $7500 with half down, $3750 then dropped it to $1875. I said I needed $30,00 they said they could get $100,00 then transfered me to the "Manager" who said $300,000.
It smells.
I told them I would check up on their company. I don't think they'll call back. I found this site. Thank you. Pat- Caller: (888) 936-7423

- myrna replies to Jay JayI got the same number on my caller id they lowered the price to $1300.00 and said i could pay the rest when i got the money. they told me it was investors like ford motor and it was a tax break for them.
- myrna replies to Edna| 1 replyI really felt this offer was a fraud, just as bad as the one wanting to put money in your account or sending a check for you to deposit so they could rip you off.
people who do this should go to prison - Azco JI too got the call. I also got a fax from them. They have been very insistent about me sending them the $2500 (lowered from $3750) back ever since. I agree with the others, it seem strange that they are so insistent about getting the agreement back, especially if it's true what they say ( we work mostly on the moeny we get from the grant agencies). So, after reading this blog, I too will hold off on sending them ony money and see what happens. And, it was the lady I talked to that said "google them" I would only find good things about their service. Well I guess she was wrong!!

- Jim| 3 repliesI received a call very similar to the calls described. They told me that they could get me $220,000.00 "grant money." All I had to do was send them $7,000.00 for them to get started. When I told them I would not put that kind of money at "risk" without any guarantee of a return they promptly told me that they would cut the cost in half ($3,750.00). When I told them that I would not put that kind of money and risk (again) Darrin said “could you hold on the line for a minute?” When Darrin came back on the line he said he had some good news “my supervisor has allowed me to reduce the fee to $2,500.00.” WOW! What a deal! RIGHT! I then told him that I would consider the offer …. (to allow me time to check them out). They had a website just like they said and a business phone line and even sent me some documents from the state of Nevada.
All I did was “goggle” them by typing in their phone number and WOW … I found several “new friends” with the same story.
Is it a fraud???? I don’t know but it sure looks and smells “fishy” to me!
They called me back. I told them my concerns and my findings… they told me “you can’t believe everything you read on the Internet” and the reviews that have been written. Basically they were saying “everyone else” is lying, we are telling you the truth. RIGHT!
After Darrin realized he was not getting anywhere with me he asked me if I would talk to his supervisor. I talked to her … (Beth I think was her name) I told her what we had found on the internet and that one of my “board members” (we’re a non-profit 501 C-3) had raised some concerns, she promptly told me that she has worked with dozens of 501 C-3 corporations and that the board members didn’t really make the decisions that you (speaking of me as the President of the corporation) make the decision. That’s when I sensed a different tone in her voce to which I responded “I not playing that type of game with you, thanks for your time” and hung up the phone.
Fraud? Still don’t know but I am sure of this …. I will not be working with Global Funding or talking to them on the phone again! It was a waste of precious time!- Caller: Global Funding

- Alex| 12 repliesWell I sent them a visa check for 2500.00. And they found me grant money offer for $300,000.00 of which 5% ($15,000.00) has to go into a non-profit 501c3 corp. which I would need to have up and running before the end of the 1st quarter to get funding for the 1st quarter. They offered to expidite and set up the non-profit corp. for $6,300.00 but needed to get started right away.
I checked online to see what the going price was to do that and found prices from $600.00 to $2,000.00. I am going with one of the online companies and will let you know what the Director of Corporate Funding, Oliver Prescott said.- Caller: Global Business Funding/GoGlobalFunding.
