I found something similar - I *think* it's from a donation I made to a friend's fund-raising campaign (they were participating in a fundraiser and asked for pledges)

Your card has been skimmed and you are yet another victim of crooks that make small transactions from many victims to rake the money in. My bank account had a 1$ transaction with CAP Aids as the merchant and 888-955-5455 as their number. Nowhere in CAP Aids website is that number listed. I had the bank cancel the debit card immediately.

I have one for $25.  It is for a donation I made to www.PHAssociation.org (Pulmonary Hypertension Association).  It is a legit charge, at least in my case.

Got a call from a Rogers 1-866 number on my Rogers Wireless cellular phone the same day of this credit card charge. I only remember asking them to remove me from their calling list, had no idea what they wanted and now I have a 1$ fraudulent charge from this phone number with the description "Kids Help Phone". I don't mind donating as long as I agree to it. Needless to say, I'll be calling IATS to get refunded or will let my credit card company deals ith the scammers.

IATS is a merchant provider for non-profit organications. Their phone number will appear beside all of their merchants' transactions on your statement. If you do not recognize a charge that appears with their phone number beside it, call them! They will help you. They are known in the industry for the number 1 customer service team.
If you did not authorize a charge that appears on your statement, it is possible that your cc # may have been stolen by a fraudster who is testing your card on non-profit websites to make sure that it works. If this has happened to you, the non-profit organization will give you a refund.

IATS will never contact you unless you have left us a message to call you back (most often regarding a credit card charge).

Call the number beside the charge. If no number appears, call your bank and they can trace the charge for you.

Yes, their name appeared on my card statement, over and over again. $5 charge to some charity I never heard of, followed by $5 credit. At least 4 times back and forth like this. In the mean time, three other $250-ish charges were made against my card to other merchants. All of it fraud. It looks like someone used the $5 charges to make sure my card was valid before making real purchases with it. If you see any charges from this company be sure to check your bill carefully!

I have a recurring charge on my Credit Union checking/debit account for just under $5.  Charges are tied to the 888-955-5455 number and are said to be open media engagemenca.  (whatever that is).  Sounds like I'me being skimmed.

I have an ongoing charge of $6 + fees for manymonths now, although I thought I had achieved a stop to it. I certainly don't want to cancel wy C.C. for one fraudulent charge. In future I will probably resist begging letters, and simply direct my charity in a well-known direction.

Yes it is certainly much better to have that $6 + fees taken out every month rather than ask the credit card company for a new card, which would cost you nothing.
