Scammer with heavy Indian, Hindu accent says he is from IRS and wants you to send him money or you will be arrested in 1 hour. Hang UP! This is not a real call. No government IRS agency phone number would come in "Unknown". Also, IRS does all business through certified mail not over the phone.

i called this number because of my friend who understand little English, she gave me this number and asked me to call on her behalf. She said a man called her and she could only understand somebody is under arrest. I called this number thinking it was a Police Officer. A person with heavy east Indian accent picked up the phone, I introduced myself,  before I could ask about the call to my friend, he said he is an IRS Officer and there is a legal case against me. He read out my home address. Then I knew right away it is a fraud. I told him I will call the Police, he said go ahead call them. My friend is so upset and crying, she thought police was actually going to arrest her in one hour. She says I work in a Poultry plant, I work overtime every night I haven't been anywhere just work home and work except grocery shopping once a week. I tried to explain to her but she is not very convinced. She still thinks it is Police.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

Fraud.  Scam.  Don't answer those calls.  Answer only known numbers.  I get 3 to 4 calls everyday.

I got the same message and the guy said he was with the CRA and that the police will come in 30 min if I hung up. A hindu "David" as he called himself, said to go to a gas station and get a "pay power reload it" card so I could send them the money. They said to stay on the phone while I do it. I told them I would call them back and never did. They called back 3 time within 5 min. Hang up on them!

Called this morning claiming to be from IRS and telling me I owe $1,490 for improperly filed tax return. I asked why I had received nothing in the mail. Claimed they had sent three notices (NOT!). Threatened that they are going to file case with local court house. Called my U. S. Representatives office to report. How does Jack Morgan get an Indian accent?

I got yet another call from this number. They hung up. It looked familiar, so I called them back. Then I remembered - the IRS scammer. A man answered with a heavy accent. I used my best Scottish/Indian accent, and said, "Sir, I am calling to advise you that you did not file your Income Taxes properly, and that court proceedings have been initiated. The court papers will be delivered to your home today. If you are at work, I will need your work address to have them delivered. This is very serious. Please do not ignore this. I will need your work address in order to serve you with the court papers." Several times, I said, "Sir? Sir? Do you understand what I am telling you? Please give me your work address for delivery." At first, he had said he was the IRS. Then there was a lot of silence. Finally he hung up, otherwise I would have gone on for hours. Idiots. Call blocking initiated for that number! I've got room for many more if they change their number.
Under the call types below, 800notes should add one for "Fraudulent."

Got a phone call on a weekend, hung up on them. Then they called me again first thing in the morning, said they were from the Federal Investigation Department (whatever that is) and started asking questions if I knew about 3 federal charges against me, and if the Police had already contacted me. I was in a hurry and really tired of them so I just hung up again. What do you know by lunch time I already received 2 more voice mails from them stating different name each time ;-) David Michael, David Williams, talking about an illegal affidavit and 3 federal charges again and if I didn't call back within an hour blablabla.. could listen to the whole entire thing, too funny. They left different number to call them back too.

Got a call from someone with a foreign accent. Told me I had illegal criminal acts done in my name. Said I should received a phone call from our local police department. He started giving me a warrant # & case ID #. Told me illegal acts were done when I filed taxes in the last couple years. Told him I havent worked since 2003 & on disability. He freaked out & said He would check it out or something put me on hold & hung up on me.

They appear to be bunch of Indian teenagers... it's appears more like a prank versus real scam. The idea is pretty lame - you have back taxes to pay, and they are going to arrest you or something... difficult to understand at times. If you truly bored this are the dudes that will be keeping up the conversation endlesly.

If only real police would call people in advance with arrest warning in advance, the crime rates will go down for sure.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
