- George| 1 replyThis number has called me 8 (yes, 8!) times daily for the last several days. I finally called them back and an Indian woman answered (I was unable to understand the name of the company from which she was calling) and I told her to remove my name from their listing and never call me again. 15 minutes later, they called again! I called them back again and got an Indian man who told me that the name of the company was GT Tech Help; when I told him what had been happening he said he would inform his supervisor...

Try these alternatives:
1. Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail. Many telescammers hang up after 3 rings.
2. If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free phone blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.
3. If your cel is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group". Assign the scammer's phone number to that group. Also assign a "silent ring" to that group. You will not hear future calls from that number.
4. Google NoMoRobo, and visit their site, to see if your phone system is compatible with that system. (It may or may not be compatible).
5. Contact your phone service provider. They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.
6. If you buy things online, you might want to google "Amazon phone blocker" to see what devices or apps Amazon has to offer for landlines or smartphones. Similar devices are for sale on eBay and other online stores.
http://goo.gl/cdPm8O - JudyI received a call from 888-995-8039 soon after I had been I had spoken to Norton Tech Support. I thought it was them calling me back. When I found out that it wasn't, I told the man conversation was over & he is not to call me again. He has called me 8 times on Friday, 10 times on Saturday, 9 times on Sunday (Mothers Day) & 9 times on Monday. I answered the last 5 calls & no one responds so I know it's robo calls. I feel they are harassing me.

because I have received tons of harrassing call from them every day even though they promised to removed my phone from their calling list.
Please report them to the government website. https://esupport.fcc.gov/ - Unknown2Please stop this 888-995-8039 from harrassing calls by reporting them to the government.
I strongly believe that they hacked into my computer (and other people computers) ....that was why they start calling so many times per day no matter when you are at work or at home saying they can help us to fix our computers.
Please continue to report them to the government. - MikeWow, dealing with this organization was a nightmare. I'll get started.
Unlike some people here, they didn't call me first. My day-old laptop had a popup saying that a virus was detected (and this popup was not from MacAfee, the only antivrius program I had installed), and to call a certain number (keep in mind, this number was different from 888-995-8039). I was pretty frightened by this notification, so I immediately called the number. The man I spoke to seemed no different from any tech support person, and he seemed really helpful and knowledgeable.
Now before this happened, there were a few shortcuts on my desktop that shouldn't have been there. The man I spoke to immediately identified them as viruses (I, now, speculate that these shortcuts were created by this organization in order to make them seem legitimate). So they asked if they could take control of my computer in order to get rid of everything. Here's the kicker: in order to access their alleged "tech support" service, I had to pay them $259.99 (yikes!). I was so caught up in my anxiety about my computers made-up virus, that I complied. This involved me giving my debit card number to make the transaction. To me, everything that was happening seemed perfectly normal, especially because I had never had to deal with any tech support before.
So, then the so-called "tech specialist" took control of my computer. They told me I had to give my PC password to him to continue (double yikes!). He deleted all of those extra shortcuts (I didn't notice it at the time, but he ONLY deleted the shortcuts--he did not uninstall the programs), then downloaded an antivirus program and ran a scan and found a bunch of infected files. As far as I've been able to tell, this was actually a legitimate antivirus program (called Malware); probably used in order to further gain my trust and trick me. At this point I had disconnected my Internet, discontinuing all this.
In this time, I had talked to someone else, who finally alerted me that this was a scam. So, because I was disconnected, they had called me back. At this point, I told them that I knew they were scammers. They told me that on their website it says that they work with Microsoft. Seriously? Anyone can make a website saying they work with Microsoft! So eventually, I made it clear that they should not contact me again, so I hang up. They contacted me again, to tell me that if I'm dissatisfied with their service then they can refund me. This is just speculation, but they likely did this in order to prevent me from worrying about disputing the transaction.
I'm in the process of disputing the transaction now, and I plan on getting a new debit card since they still have my old card number. I also deleted their programs, and (because my laptop is only a day old) restored my laptop to factory conditions.
So to anyone reading this: please learn from my ignorance, and do not do what I did. If a virus is truly detected, you will never have some obscure third-party tell you to contact them. They will NEVER tell you to give them your password! And don't get caught up in your anxiety; hang up & say you'll call back later, take time to think about the situation, think of alternatives, talk to someone who knows about computer security. - Mary Davidsonthey call me didn't leave me message, so this is spam. some how got my cell phone. please stop.

- Caller: tech support

- Slim replies to david>> finally i got that they are a scammer <<
Was that before or after you gave them access to your computer?
IF the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
• Disabled the anti-virus software
• Added nasty malware to the computer
• Copied the Contact List (so they can email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
• Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
• Compromised the ID
• "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
• Deleted some important files
• Asked for money to repair the damage they caused
What can you do immediately after such an attack?
1. Pull the cables on the computer, so it cannot access the internet.
2. Change ALL passwords stored on the computer
3. Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
4. Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
5. Inform your bank and credit card companies
6. Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
7. You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
8. Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
9. Plug in the computer only AFTER all the above have been done
10. Change the passwords on all online accounts. Even better - access a "safe", uninfected computer, and chance your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.
