- sitka| 1 replyGot a call from some saying they couldn't deliver to a box number and to call 800-621-8019. I do have some items ordered so assumed it was one of those companies. When I called that number it directed me to 900-446-2900. I did stupidly call the 900 number but fortunately, the call was not put through by the phone company. Some years ago I put a block on 900 numbers. Wow, lucky for me. No telling what the scam was and how much it would have cost.
The first message was too garbled to understand who they said they were (probably intentional).- Caller: unknown
- Customer in Nevadawhen I called the bank to activate my Bank of America credit card, the message said to call 1 900 446 2900 which message claimed was a centralized activation service. Bank of America on being informed had never heard of such a number. Dialer Beware.
- Reva HashI got two charges on my Verizon phone bill from this labeled MCI directory assistance charges for $1.99 each plus taxes. Of course I called to have it removed. They said it is called cramming. What is the world coming to?

- rhkGot a call on my answering machine for my son who doesn't even live here. Saying it was important for him to call Donna Davis before 3:30 pm at 1-800-210-0866 direct extension 3702. I didn't get the message until well after that time. When I called to see what it was about I heard an automated message that said to call 1-900-446-2900. Needless to say I decided not to call since I knew there would be a charge for a "900" number.

- rhkI just listened to my answering machine again and I had misunderstood the "800" number that had been given so please disregard my previous posting.
- JimmyWas redirected to call 900-446-2900 to activate my new credit card. Called credit card company instead to activate without having to pay for the call. They verified that the 1-900 number was legit, so at least it wasn't a scam on that part, but paying to activate? Is this just another way for them to recover losses? Who knows. Call the card company direct!!
- Reply to JimmyI called 1(800)621-5485 for technical support and was directed to call 900-446-2900. I thought they charge for technical support, so I called the 900. I could not understand their message, I hung up and redial 1(800)621-5485 again. This time I got the right party. Then I think the 900 is the scam. I called Verizon customer service, and was informed the 900-446-2900 is a big scam now. DO NOT CALL. Thanks Verizon.
Jimmy, are you part of 900-446-2900 ? - BobRetrieved a call on my answering maschine regarding an upcoming trip I had booked. It said it was important for me to call 1-800-787-8513 prior to my trip. Called the number and was redirected to 1-900-446-2900. Called that number and was told the first number I called was not listed. I asked if there was a charge for this call and was told there was but he couldn't tell me how much. I asked where the 900 number was located and was told in the central US. He said he could not tell me anything else.

- JOA friend of mine gave me the number to her mortage company as my husband and I have been looking to buy a house. The direct line was disconnected and there was a 1-800 number also, so I tried that. When I called the 1-800 the voicemail directed me to the same 1-900-446-2900 number which was $1.99/minute so I did not try it. I would be careful with this extension.
- MeI received a call from Comcast from 888-869-7808. I knew this wasnt their number and called Comcast and left a message for them to call me back (it was an option instead of waiting). I havent heard back from them so I called the 888 number and it referred me to 900-446-2900. I searched both numbers and will not call the 900 number. It is definitely a scam.
- NoBlingRecieved a charge of $1.99 for two calls within a two minute span on May 4th for a total of $3.98 plus taxes. This showed up as a MCI charge on my Verizon account. Called the MCI # on the bill and was informed that MCI and Verizon had merged and was transferred to a Verizon Customer Rep. Asked what the number was - and the rep said she would check. The number was busy and she could not give me any information. Bill received on June 21st.

- Shenanigans at MCIreceived a charge on my Verizon bill, under Other Providers MCI for $1.99 for Pay-Per-Call Services.
+ taxes - $2.33... Call Detail does not say the date, only the time, placed call = directory assistance to 900-446-2900. Verizon told me to call MCI. On the bill under MCI it say, if you have questions concerning this portion of your bill, please contact MCI at 1-718-1-8-0-42 (that's not even a real phone number).
at the bottom it says to order or change service: 1-800-444-3333. this is the number Verizon told me to call to get charges dropped. At MCI, I believe I spoke to a girl in India, who told me the 900-446-2900 number belongs to Carol Keppler from a radio show (?!?), they could not do anything about the charges, that I should call Verizon back and get 900 number blocked, which I did, she also told me she would escalate the account to get charges dropped, whatever that means. Upon calling Verizon back, the Verizon 2nd rep told me someone else was in my account, assuming it is MCI up to more shenanigans. I was told to call Verizon in a couple days to make sure nothing changed with my account.
what a hassle for a $1.99 call, but it's the principle of the matter!- Caller: MCI
- sue925I got a call on my cell phone from 888-748-2936. I called the number to see who it was. An automated system answered so I hung up. I immediately received a text message from that number. I deleted it because I knew it was some kind of scam. That's when I decided to google the number. Wish I had kept the text so I could copy it on here for everyone. I then called the 888 number from work, and was told the number had been changed to 900-446-2900, and that I should call the new number to be connected to a new national directory assistance service. Of course I didn't call.
- Ellie replies to JAnd you will be charged for it! $1.99 per minute!
