- Heartprob| 3 repliesThis is a low-life East Texas bill collector; will drive you nuts with their persistence, even on un-warranted collections.
They have a totally un-justified claim against me, a medical invoice that was paid by my Insurance company, Blue Cross. This has all been carefully explained to them, they simply ignor whatever you say.
Seems more like you having to pay them ransom to stop the harassing calls.- Caller: Edward Sloan and Associates

- meI too have blue cross...and my bill was too pd...but theybe been calling since last summer...i found out we can file a claim againest them via your insurance company and they handle it from there! Which is what im doing. Dont you all find it funny we all have blue cross and the same collector is calling us for PAID BILLS? Sounds like a law suite in the making.
- 2424| 2 repliesI have delt with Edward Sloan and Assc. and they were great. They were the nicest bill collector I have ever delt with. I did find that my insurance company messed up and the statute of limitaions was up on my insurance for filing an appeal with my insurance company. The worked with me to get it paid and even removed it from my credit. I was very pleased with them.

- E.S. Sux| 1 replyEdward Sloan has called nearly non-stop for over a year. Mostly they ask for people who do NOT live here or to collect on debts that already have payment arrangements directly w/the office- I presume, because all debts are payment arranged and there is no other kind. I have asked and then told then numerous times not to call me, until today when I was forced to be rude, because usually I don't even answer, and when I do I tell them 'Don't Call Me,' but yet! they call again and again and again.

- AmandaWhen I answer, no one is on the other end. They never say a word!! && I keep receiving these calls. I do not have Blue Cross Blue Shield, which is the main thing I see everyone has in common.
- 2424 replies to E.S. SuxYou might try calling in and giving them your phone number becuase if u just call in and say remove my number collection agencies dont know the number to remove. Trust me I have delt with several collection agencies. Also if you have payment arrangements made with the doctors office sometimes the doctors office dont report to the collection agency so you will still get the calls. What i would do is set up a payment with the collection agency that is calling you (if you have a debt wtih them) that way it will stop the phone calls. And they may even take it off your credit.
- moontalker| 1 replyI have the same problem as amanda. several calls a day, but they hang up when i answer. If i don't answer, they don't leave a message. got to block that number.
- Caller: don't know
- 2424 replies to moontalkerCall the number back that is calling you and ask who they are trying to reach it they maybe looking for someone else. Thats the only way to stop the call because if they dont know they are calling a wrong number they cant make it stop.
- Theresa| 1 replySo everyone knows....the person posting messages under the name 2424, IS Edward Sloan and Assoc.!! Legally, you are not required to pay a bill that your doctors office mistakenly did not file with your insurance or if the statute of limitations has expired as that is the doctors billing office's responsibility, not the patients. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS! Do not let these people bully you into paying medical bills you are not responsible for. If the doctors office didn't file it correctly, it's their problem and they have to eat it. They will try to threaten you with a lawsuit and bad credit ratings, both of which do not work as they know it will cost much more to go to court and they will lose because they were negligent in the filing of the claim. PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY AND KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A PATIENT!

1. Doctors file insurance as a courtesy, they dont have to file it. It is actually up to you to follow up and make sure your ins. co. paid. If they dont you have 90-120 day to file an appeal if you dont then your stuck with the bill. More than likely if the doctors office messed up they will make it right. But once it goes it to collections....theres not much you can do.
2. I was just letting them know how to stop the phone calls. I get calls myself from them. Now I did owe a bill, however they were nice enough to remove my cell phone when I asked them to. Commen sense, if you dont call and let them know that the number is bad you will just keep getting calls.
3. As far as me being Edward Sloan ha ha ha Come on thats a company like they would have time to be on here. I found this site when they were calling me and was trying to be helpful to others. I do know the laws VERY WELL.
4. If there is a big enough balance I have seen the origional creditor file a judgement. As far as the credit goes. MEDICAL DEBT DOES EFFECT YOUR CREDIT. And its even worse now cause there are sooooooooo many people not paying their medical debt. Personally, I went to re-finanace my house and I had a 75.00 co-pay charge that I must have forgot about ( I have 5 kids medical is the last thing on my mind sometimes) they made me pay that before they would allow me to re finanace my house.
5. I dont agree with the way the law are set up. I think doctors office should be MADE to file ins!!!! - pennyEdward Sloan has called me for almost 6 years now over a medical bill that was paid. The medical services were provided in 2003! Years ago, i asked for the back up as you are required to do under the federal credit reporting act in order to get the incorrect information removed from my credit report. Of course, Edward Sloan was unable to provide the backup at which time i sent another certified letter and told them to remove it from my credit report and and said they would remove it and quit calling me as they are required to do. All of this was done AFTER the statute of limitations had expired anyway. i am an attorney and i've just about had it. i think i will file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General and see if i can put a stop to this. This is ridiculous. If anybody has any other suggestions i would gladly accept them.

I called and got a manager on the phone and spoke with her explained that the person they were looking for was NOT me. Now they do have an auto dialer and explained that it would be 24-48 hours to come out of their system. The number was removed and I havent gotten any phone calls since. Make sure and ask for the manger though she was REAL nice and REAL helpful.

- ok ok okJust pull up ur EOBS with BCBS from the date of service...you can do that online. U have a deductible that is your agreement with your ins company then they only pay 80% if ur lucky and have good ins they pay 90%. ur ins company doesnt cover at 100% always. If u have to take an ambulance theres a deducutible for that and if you are care flighted theres on for that. Not to mention ur co-pays as well. And sometimes your ins company wont cover certain things. I have BCBS and with my policy they dont cover pregnancy, mental health, or birth control. I have to meet a 5000.00 deductible before they pay anything then they pay 80% and I still owe 20%. I also have a 200.00 prescription deductible i have to meet before they cover my medications. Keep an eye on your EOBS save them match them to the bills you get from the doctors or hospitals. Ins companies look for any reason not to pay thats why u have a 90-120 day statue of limitations to file an appeal with your ins company if u dont then they assume you agree with how they paid and you are paying the rest. Collection agencies are not at fault for your ins not paying like they are suppose to. You are. And remember if u go to the ER you get a bill for the facility and the doctor. Radiology is a seperate bill and so is lab work. Make sure you ask for a list of providers when you leave the hospital that way u can make sure to give them your ins information because the hoapital doesnt have to give your providers the ins information its not their responsibility. If you have medicaid/medicare they will only cover an ambulance ride if it is life or death. And guess what they get to determine wether it was life or death. No none of this is fair but thats how it works. If u stay on top of everything you wouldnt have to deal with collection agencies. If the agency that is calling you has the wrong number just call and let the agency know and they can remove it. They dont know its a bad number until u let them know.
