IRS scammer.   Strong Indian accent.  Ignore 'em.   IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  Tried to tell me they were in Florida.

    Report 'em:  http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam

I just got the same call.  Mine was from "Officer Davis" from the "IRS".  Also a strong Indian accent.  Apparently, if I don't call him back within 72 hours, I will be put in jail until my "case" goes to trial.  How do these losers sleep at night?

Is there anyway to have these scammers shut down?  I just had to call these idiots to see what they said.  I told them that I was turning them into the "real" IRS and they said "we are real."  I said since when did the IRS operate out of India?  When he knew I wasn't falling for it he said that he was "Robinhood" takes from the rich and gives to the poor.  Amazing.  I worry some people will fall for this.

I received a voicemail message from Officer Robert Turner.  Very thick accent.  I have some legal affidavit against me or something like that.  I've been asked to call them back otherwise there will be federal charge.

I have today too 6/13/14 @ 12:37 received a message from IRS officer Benjamin Smith, phone # 904-290-3381, saying they have legal warrant against me and if I don't call back, then they will take the action against me. At first time I was honestly totally freaked out.....listened the message several times and had so many plans today to do. Unfortunately I just froze......and lost for few minutes. Then I tried to calm myself and open the internet and Google it, then wala.................................thank you so much guys for all the comments and share your experiences too. It just relieved me and feeling much better now. Thanks to all of you and may  God bless and protects us from those culprits. Now I am going to remember that, "IRS DO NOT CALL. IF REQUIRED THEY WILL SEND THE PAPER BY MAIL"
Good luck to all of us and MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

    Report your callers here:

•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

I just received a call today (June 16th around 4:30PM) from a man with a strong indian accent stating that I violated some federal laws and that I was going to be arrested if I didn't respond. Sounded suspicious so I went online to check it out and here I am (along at the official IRS website stating that there were scammers going around hitting people through both email and phone). The number was 1-904-290-3381. Said his name was Officer Alex Smith.
