Vanessa Miller called looking for Steven Williams saying that she was calling from a law office about a grievance filed from Ramsey county and that the call needed to be returned by the end of the business day.

I called back and left a message for her that there was no Steven William here and if she called back I'd file harassment against her.

Hey what ever happen with that Lady Vanessa? She just called me with that same stuff about having me arrested for questioning , some nonsense over money i owe. She sounded all nice and concerned about my well being, and then offered a crazy settlement fee. Is She Real?

Vanessa miller called me .telling me I had to one pm to get 1570.00 and said now  or I was going to be arrested with a bail of 3900.00.and my kids taken away.she was trying to be nice saying she trying to help me.gave me all the information for the bank wire.my uncle a attorney said get her id number since she said she was a state investigator.when I asked for that or a letter head she got verbal abusive getting a police report so I can file a complaint with the get a complaint with the general attorney office and with the better buisness bureau.and taking this a lot further.telling me I. Commited fraud and I was going to have felony charges and she was going to call me when to turn myself in so I won t be embarrased in front of my kids.

I got this call yesterday and was scared enough to pay the money.  DON"T DO THIS and don't make the same mistake I made.

I'm getting call's from a ladt name Vaness Miller staung that she's going to take to court and for my lawyer to give her a call before the end of this businessday. She even calling my family member telling them that theres a fraud case on me. crazy

I received a phone call today from Laverne King saying that she was an investigator for the law offices of Carolyn Cox.  She asked if I had ever been arrested for stealing.  Apparently there was a fraud on my bank account from July 2009 from a payday loan that I was never approved for.  She said I needed to contact a criminal defense attorney and should be hearing from the local prosecutor's office.  What a load of BS!  I hung up on her after I cussed her out!

person identified as laverne king called asking for a Michael someone. Wrong number I said. Her nasty response of  tracking the number through some County records asking me how long I had the number and saying I was lying assuming I was this Michael person. She gave me her name and I informed her I would be reporting her to the police. "No I'm gonna report you to the police Michael, for theft".

A woman called me at work today, looking for my daughter. With a very concerned voice she told me my daughter was being investigated for theft. And that charges were being filed in the county attorneys office today.  The womans name was Lavern King, representing Carolyn Cox.

I recieved the same call from the same person. Said I was being investigated for check fraud. Who are these people and where are they located. I would love to press charges for telephone harrassment.

same story -- "Laverne King" called several family members saying that one of my sisters is being accused of theft/fraud.  had convinced my other sister (a lawyer, no less) that the state's attorney was about to make an arrest.  definitely violating some fair lending practices here.....

I'm still nervous from my call about 2 hours ago, pretty much the same tatics stated that the judge was about to sign the papers and I would be picked up today. If I didn't pay $540.00 by the end of business day. Her name was Laverne King and investigater for the law office of Carolyn Cox. When I began to ask questions about the payday loan company and the bar number for Carolyn Cox. She became very irrate and stated then you will just go to jail, then hung up.

Received a phone call yesterday from Laverne King.  She called my previous employer and told them and my mom that I am going to be arrested for fraud.  She offered to give my mom a bond amount.  Called local  presecutor's office  and found out this is not true.  This lady is a real piece of crap.. Have recorded message from her on my sister's cell phone and plan to contact Florida and Idaho Attorney General's office as she represented herself as a fraud investigator form the state of Florida.  What a bunch of crap. These guys work for loan sharks.

Vanessa called me too.  Left a message about fraud and bad check.

Lavern King called me on the day of my grandmothers funeral and left a vmail about me being investigated for fraud and said if i didnt call back within the next hour charges will be filed on me. it didnt make sense because i called the police department and they said that they would never call and say anything like that. Plus the woman said they had a corporate number that really didnt make sense. so anyone that recieves this call from the 904 number dont worry its a bunch of crap. And if i bump into her on the streets imma whoop that [***]

The Better Business Bureau has released many alerts on this scam, google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"  Scams mutate so read all the alerts to get a flavor of what they are.

how do we file a complaint for these fraudulent calls?

type in contact FTC, and the links will show you where to file your complaint. I belive these people may have already been sued, not sure, read some of the info from FTC about this #
