- Unknown| 6 repliesThis is an attorney's office based in Chicago. They called my in-law's house and my dad's house looking for me, yet I've never lived at either address! There is definitely something shady about that. I tried calling the number back, but got an automated operator that wouldn't connect me to anybody. Everytime I tried speaking to a PERSON, the call would get cut off (despite the fact that I was calling from a land line). The message they left at both my dad and in-law's houses said something about having 24-48 hours to respond or they would issue a restraining order against me. When I looked around on the Internet for the phone number, the majority of the results I got said that it had something to do with Citigroup. I've never had any business with Citigroup, so I don't know what that means...

- vmr| 3 repliesThese hotshots are really a piece of work! Beware! They used a former address, accessed my bank info. (that I stupidly provided for them). Luckily, I canceled the checks.... They are a fraud! I tried to call them back - no one answers and the other number I called is unavailable. They identified themselves as National Legal Services. I should have known something was wrong when the first guy yelled at me when I initially refused to provide them with my bank info. My residential telephone number is unlisted--clue#2. How did they get my unlisted phone number and former address? Beware!

- vmr replies to ANYONOMOUSWhat happened next is awful! Although I transferred my existing funds over to another account, I kept a close watch on my checking account, following up on activities daily. The week following my payment of "stop check" fees, my checking account was overdrawn approx. $26.00. I called my bank only to find out that this company had changed the check# that I previously provided for them and attempted to take money out of the account! Apparently this is perfectly legal if a company has access to your bank routing and account numbers. It is also legal if they surpass this altogether if they submit a payment request electronically! The money was refunded to my account, however; since I requested and paid for a stop payment prior to this activity. I requested a copy of the check, which will be mailed to my residence. I also obtained another name they are using supposedly from "Cleveland, OH." They used the name, "Nationwide." I have no affiliation with them. There is no location for Nationwide in "Cleveland." They also provided an address: 3401 Enterprise Pkwy. This is some sort of surgical supply company, on Beachwood Pkwy, in OH They were even clever enough to provide a fake policy#, which they refused to provide me with during the initial phone call. I am now faced with the option to either close my new checking account, which contains direct deposits on my (new) job, or risk having this happen again! .
- Blargh| 1 replyI've received 3 calls from 3 different people in three different area codes (Los Angeles, Plano, TX, Atlanta, GA) reading almost exactly the same script about being 'private investigators' with some fictional "claim and restraining order" being filed against me and having 24 hrs to respond (hmmmm, its now been a week). I never answer cold calls not on my 'whitelist' so it goes to voicemail. Never mind the fact that legitimate issues would be communicated in writing... never mind there's no one on the planet who has a reason for a restraining order.
Anyway, each message mentions this number 9047585980 as "the number on record". That area code is in the Jacksonville, Florida region (NE Florida). Might try calling it from a payphone just to see who answers.
I figure its either a fraudulent situation (misrepresentation of self, purpose, intimidation, etc), a scam, or some new level of stupidity where poor, unemployed people are paid "on commission" to make these calls. Either way all the numbers end up on my block list.- Caller: Not given

- MSTXWe never answer our phone and always screen calls. Same bullsh*t. Some young, dumb chick who could barely read the scam script, stating something about a "cause" and 24 hours to settle it. Couldn't Quite Make out the name of the company or the chick calling. Tough. Researched the phone number. Found these postings. Erased the message. They can crawl into a hole and die.

- CantBelieveITYoung woman called saying I had 24-48 hours to call 904-758-5980. That this was a legal matter and I shouldn't ignore the call. When I asked her what this was about, she got nasty and said she didn't know, her job was just to find me...funny thing is that when she called, she used the last name I had over 15 years ago. I called the number and got 'the number you have dialed has been disconnected or is no longer in service.' Not sure what to do now, other than ignore it and see if they call again.

- Gussie in TexasI got a call from this number today 7/27/10 from Megan Moore. The call was for my brother who has never lived here at my home. She stated that she was a special investigator and that a complaint had been filed against him. She stated that he had 24-48 hours to contact her to dispute a restraining order that had been filed. She even gave a fake case number. I don't know how she even got my phone number. BEWARE, she is a scam artist anda liar. Don't give them any info.

- swThis number called my husbands number earlier today, I googled the callback number, because it didn't make any sense. She was a private investigator who was giggling while she said I must appear for court and had a restraining order, and was to talk to my attorney within 24-48 hours to close this matter. I've had debt collectors call before, and they can't leave a message for me on any phone with any information other than company name and call back number by law because of privacy. They would not be giggling, and would state the company name, and debt collectors don't hire private collectors or issue restraining orders. If they want to find you, they let the court find you and garnish your wages. The final kicker is when you call the call back number the choice of extensions is: if you been supeoned, had bank or property seizures, or would like to settle out of court. No legit business is going to have their extensions like that

- acThey called my brothers house phone where I have NEVER lived or used for that matter. The guy said he was a special investigator and I had 24-48 hours to call. Same spill. What made me a little cautious was the fact that in the back ground I could hear people laughing and yelling at each other. I tried calling back but no one ever picked up. I googled the name of the company and to no surprise I found nothing so i decided to google the number and found these posts so I am convinced that it is some sort of scam So Pretty sure it's some sort of SCAM!!!

- tjI received the call today. They are using my daughters grandparents name. How did they get that? And they are threating to take legel action against the grandparent. The grandparent lives in a different state then me. I became question the call and did an internet search on the number that they left. The same 24-48 hours spill from Mitchell a special investigator.
- jwI received the call today on my cell phone. I was sure who the heck it was so I googled the number and found all these posting about the message that is being left. I too got the same message. From reading the responses from the others, I think it is a scam and I don't think I'll be calling them back. Something needs to be done. They should be reported to someone.
