Got a call from 905-715-7399. Person who called did not pronounce my name correctly and stated it is very important to contact her immediately. Searched number and found out is one of BS Collection agencies based in Newmarket, ON. Name of the agency is: Collect Canada Ltd. located at: 1310 Kerrisdale Blvd., Suite #200 Newmarket, Ontario, L3Y 8V6. Company is owned and operated by Christopher Walker who is also The Treasurer of Newmarket Chamber of Commerce. If you receive a call from this number do not call back or relay any info to them. The best way is to contact the lawyer and ask him/her to send a fax and a letter to Collections Canada and they will back up immediately. If you receive another call or a letter from them your lawyer has all rights to charge them with harassment. Usually after they receive fax and letter they back up. Fax number: 905-715-7946.

You are whack. If you owe it, pay it. As a former debt collector I got to see a side of people that is terrible. Debtor's lie, cheat, and steal. They write bad cheque's and then change their phone number to hide from their obligations. Taking something and not paying for it is stealing. Everyone make bill collectors out to be the bad guys. They are keeping the economy going. Debt collectors are the good guys and if they contact you and you do not owe it then they will ask for proof and try to resolve the matter with the client. The burden of proof is on you. Do not hide because they will find you. They can call a neighbor to give you a message or a relative if they have not located you. If you take care of you matters before it gets this far then you will be fine.

Stop being a scum bag and deal with your debt(s)!

I got a call from these people looking for someone with the samename.   They were very rude.  I felt I was being harrased.

Debts may be owed, but there is no need for the ignorant manner in which most collections agents cling to.  And as some one who works in the Bankruptcy and Trustees field, no collection agency is allowed to harass you, your neighbors or other family members under any circumstances, EVER.  This is an issue of ethics, and mroe often than not, many collections officers show little to no class or motivation to help those who are obviously behind on their debts.  Collectors need to get a heart and a concience and know their limits.  You ARE governed, for obvious reasons.

What noone seems to understand is collectors are pushed (usually by management) to act that way. Having their job threatened for not collecting enough, hitting the numbers they are supposed to hit. What you guys need to understand is that most collectors are people just like yourself struggling to put food on the table for their family too... They do have a concience and a heart.... Just the industry (which is not usually chosen.... Most collectors didn't want to 'grow up to be collectors' or go to school specializing in collections or something) that they are stuck in calls for a thicker skin.... Remember they are just ordinary people working a really S hitty job!!

This is a BS collection co.  They keep calling trying to collect but I dont owe anything to any canadian co.  I dont live in Canada but they keep calling me in the US.  They keep calling even after telling them to stop.

This company is obviously now leaving text messages (without any content besides the number)to people with the same last name in a certain area code trying to contact their client. This is an utter violation of the clients rights and most completely a violation of my rights not to mention the long distance changes I have incured replying this company. This once ligit company should now be considerd a spammer and a violater of personal information, as they did give us the name of the client they were looking for.

I have put in a complaint with the BBB and will bring information this to the notice of my MLA and MP.

Sorry, but they CHOOSE to work in a reviled industry and they CHOOSE to act that way. Therefore they are responsible for their actions just as much as the debtors are for their debts.

The fact remains is that once a bill goes to collections it's already been written off by the company. They sell the debt for pennies on the dollar to these scum. Remember to get their tax information and the tax information for the company on which they are collecting for. This way you can take this information and tell Canada Revenue about your payment to them so that they can be investigated for Tax Evasion and such as most money coming through collections is never claimed so they're stealing from the pockets of the government and forcing our taxes up.

you are a dick! not all people are in debt because they choose not to pay! some of us are trying to find work pay current bills and feed our kids and further more collectors try to bully people and often refuse any bottom dollar amount offered to them because it is not good enough! not everyone has a pocket full of money like you butt munch some people are raising kids on their own and UN-employed trying to work and clear their debts so if you think that this makes them scum I guess that you see yourself as a higher class than the common person in tough times suck an egg  a&& ho@*!

It amazes me how much time people waste on these websites, instead of bitching about these collection agencies, you guys should be out working and trying pay the debt, not avoid it by congregating on these sites about the calls you are receiving. And regardless of whether the original creditor has sold your account or written it off, you still have taken the money and have to pay it back to get your credit fixed and most of these companies will report to Equifax or TransUnion...the 2 major credit bureaus here in Canada...

well if they having their job threatened is not my problem, they are calling me everyday and night for more than one year but i never answer them, but now they call me once a week because i left a f***in bad message to them and when they call me i play porno movie and i let them to listen to the moan of the lady lol well they dont respect me i give them a [***] lol

Hey Debtor, be sure not to fall off that pedestal you've climbed on top of, eh?  These companies act illegally, and they harass and use rude and threatening language (which is illegal) in order to collect.  I feel sorry for small minded morons like you who belittle others to make yourself and your pithy job feel more than what you and it actually are.  You are a peon working within a scourge-of-the-earth industry that preys on people, whose only prerequisite is below-level intelligence (and probably a failing grade in a police-foundations course or some other wannabe authority hardon you've got but couldn't quite land)and are unable to understand that people most often do not commit fraud or behave irresponsibly to get into debt, and that often, serious illness, life setback, and other circumstance outside of the debtor's control are responsible.  That's why they got rid of debtor's prison, dillweed.  Who in the hell do you think you are chastizing people when you obviously know nothing about the circumstances? This holier-than-thou persona you so bravely hide behind anonymously online surely is the only way a piece of dirt like you can even look him/herself in the mirror everyday, screaming at people whose lives may have been torn from underneath them while they try to keep it together and feed their kids/keep roofs over their heads.  Go to hell, dirtbag.

It seems that people have their own opinions when it comes to Bill Collectors.. I was a Bill collector for 12 yrs..And a damn good one.... and ya sure.. I too saw a side of people where they cant pay their debts. Don't let any Bill Collector tell you that you are stealing just because you cant pay your debt. You know what? People come to a point in their lives where they fall upon some bad luck.. it happens.. But at least call the agency back... work something out with them.. let them know your situation at least.. Those bill collectors that sit there and say debtors lie steal and cheat.. you know what? Ignore them... They are the ones that let their jobs become their lives...they are the ones who have no class if they can sit there and call you every name in the book....Everyone has their own story... you are the ones living with the truth or the lie, whatever it may be. Just dont ignore the debt.. take care of it by at least making contact with the collector... Because the trace dept will find you, and that collector will continue to call you. They want their commission..

I just got called by this number looking for my ex-husband. 'Sean Morrison' harassed me and threatened me and accused me of hiding my ex and that I would be in trouble and dragged through the mud. I would not give personal information to him and he made himself sound like a revenue canada agent. He kept stating that the call was being recorded. If I had known this was a collection agent I would have just hung up when he started being aggressive.

This little paranoid punk (not even old enough to be finished school) just called me from 905-715-7399 and asked for some guy named Robert.. blabahblah... I told him I don't know who that is.  My name doesn't even sound like his.  Who know maybe this Robert guy used to have my phone number (obviously) or just gives out random numbers to who he owes his debt becasue I've never even heard of the man.  Anyways... the reason why I'm calling this kid a punk is because he's got a snrakey attitude way out of place.  Being rude and harassing me - accusing me of "hiding" this Robert fellow...  He goes... "Why are you hiding him"... (he almost started crying)...  I told him to come over here and be rude to my face... then he started getting "smart", just a like a little punk would.  I am quite concerned about his paranoia most of all... he actually believed I was this Robert fellow.. I told him to work on his senses... he didn't like that.  Then he wanted to further the conversation (and waste my work day) so we could talk about how old he was and how old I was (that was because I called him "kid" and he wanted to know how I knew he was a kid)...  I told him I could tell by his "little softy" voice (but I knew because the young man was just dumb (but in reality paranoid)..  He wasn't going to get off the phone so easy.. told me he could spend the whole day on the phone.. I said oh yeah... Told him he was an idiot and his boss would find out how dumb he was because I was recording the conversation and was going to make a youtube video so his boss would know how dumb he really was.   Well he seemed to be quite scared of his boss (apparently named Christopher Walker.. yeah I called back and confirmed) because he wanted to get off the phone all of a sudden and not even I could keep him on the phone...  Yeah so when I called back I spoke to a receptionist.. who was also very rude..I told her I was recording the conversation and and her acknowledge that the company in which she works for was harassing me ...  I also made her aware that her attitude stems from her bosses attitude and apologized that she had to work for such a shady company... I suggest these people find jobs that can provide them a little bit more happiness and and stop harassing people... not a bunch of very educated folks... Not good business Christopher... try to think of ways not to waste your time and others while you're at it.

Yeah sure I agree, people should pay their debts - but did you know that companies do all the same things that you listed to people...BUT WORSE.. Also unless the collector actually knows who they're calling, they should NOT assume it's the person they're looking for and start being rude to them.. no matter what.. those scare tactics don't work. Maybe for a few years they did, but people are too smart now.  If you are dealing with someone who is the type of debtor who doesn't care about paying their bill.. you think threatening them is going to scare them... please!! Business owners and workers are what keep the economy going you babbledorf... Not debt collectors.
