- Toronto ResidentI answered a call from this number and could not fully understand the woman's accent. I believe she said she was calling from a credit counseling agency. I replied I do not have credit issues and asked to please be removed from the calling list. They called again the next day. I didn't answer and put a call block on the number. Even after the call block, I still received two or three more calls (it shows up on my caller ID). I believe this isn't legal if you are on the Do Not Call list (which I am).

- deb142| 1 replyGot a call today at 4 pm. I answered out of curiosity and they asked if I was the owner of 416-XXX-XXXX (my home #) so I asked who was calling and it was "Craig of Consumer Benefits" (with a south Asian accent) and he said he could see I have unsecured debt of more than $5,000 and he could help me (I don't and I wouldn't get his help no matter what). He promised he wasn't selling anything. I told him I was on the Do Not Call list and that I would be happy to get his information so I could pass it along to my solicitor. I don't think he understood English enough but he did get off the phone pretty fast.
- Caller: Consumer Benefits (??)
- Call type: Telemarketer
- RusDaviesThe call themselves "consumer debt advisory". The call incessantly, even though I'm on the "do not call"
I've asked them to remove me from their list, but they still call back. I've then asked them to provide me with a reference number confirming removal from their list, and they are unable to do that, which I believe makes them non-compliant with Canadian law. They are also unable to provide me with even their business number.
Clearly a sham outfit that is operating with complete disregard of Canadian cold-calling laws.- Call type: Telemarketer
- RusDavies| 2 replies...just filed a complaint with the CTRC about them. Hopefully they'll get fined for at least one of the violations they've committed against me.

- Caller: Bell
- DianeThey've called here at least 5 times in the past 2 days, and every time I answer, they just hang up.
- jandid not answer when they called, but called back later on and was told that the call could not be completed as dialed, to please check the number and try again. So they can call a number at anytime they want, but nobody can call back using their number. SCAM for sure.

- anonymous replies to deb142THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number, or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. Report to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.
- TinaI just answered their call and explained that I'm on the DNCL and they need to not call again. He said he was not selling anything, so the rules don't apply. I asked to be taken off their list and will be reporting them to the DNC. I'm not really sure if he understood anything I said, as I could barely understand him.
