Home from work this number on the phone with a hang up on voicemail.  Tried to call back to get number taken off and recording says phone not in service.

Number left on phone, no message. Tried to call back and got a busy signal then phone number not in service.

This is a code for a long distance company......
It could be anyone calling you, using a long distance company.  Ex. This number used to come up even when my husband would call me long distance from work.

Call comes through as a fax.  It just beeps at us.

THIS NUMBER IS DRIVING US ABSOLUTLEY CRAZY.....AT LEAST TWICE A DAY.....THE NUMBER JUST BEEPS AT US....I TRY TO CALL IT AND IT SAYS IT IS OUT OF SERVICE.....

I have gotten calls from this phone number as well, at work and home. The person asks for someone and then if that person is not available they say they will call back. They then hang up without telling you where they are calling from or who they are. That is totally rude. I called the number back and a recording came on saying it was out of service. Well, how can a number be out of service when someone is using it to make calls. Find out who is is below...

I found out from Bell Canada when I called them that it is a solicitation from Rogers Communications at 5 Great Western St. in St. Catharines, Ontario.

You can go onto the Bell Canada website and go to a link where they have a service where you can have your number legally taken off of callers lists. The companies have to take your number off. It is a free service from Bell.

I called Bell Telephone and a fellow was good enough to look it up for me, the 905-988-5265 number that calls and do not tell you who they are, can't track them etc.

It is Rogers Communications soliciting for business. The address is 5 Great Western St. in St.Catharines, Ontario so you may want to phone them and tell them off. They have no right doing bad business like that and driving people crazy. Some chick asked for my guy by his first name only on both his phones, so of course it made me suspicious and friends of mine too who have had the same thing happen. Let Rogers Communications know its not ok to do this.

These scams drive me crazy, you are so right, it's NOT OK !!!
Telemarketing needs to stop, and also the protection and disquises of these companies from the public. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY NO !!! and also a right to know who is calling.

Called here as well. Recoreded voice saying it was so and so from some service stating that it had come to their attention that I could get reduced interest on my credit card. Can only assume that its a call centre that does multiple types of annoying calls..I hung up

call 9:23 am friday Jan.18/08 no answer.We get this call once a day each week.

we are receiving multiple calls from this number - at least six in the past few days. Nobody ever speaks when we answer the phone and the only id is the phone number.

I have recieved a bunch of calls from this number. But they have been "good" calls. It was an xbox 360 rep (i had a huge problem with my xbox...shipping errors, they sent me 2 broken ones, etc)

So this number was my "xbox repair guy" for about 2 months...this number would show up, and it would be him. long story short, i got my xbox fixed. YAY!

But now, i just got another call from this number (its been about a month since i heard from it), and it was some woman who wanted to know my experiences with xbox live customer support. She asked me a bunch of questions relating to a specific call i made on april 22nd, 2008...

so, i don't know whats up with this number...it MUST be some kind of gateway number for long distance calls (the xbox support guy was in toronto, ontario...but 988 is the prefix for st catharines, ontario)

I guess this number could be used for ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This number has called twice today asking for myself, was told I was not home and they hung up. Called back it rang but then a recording came on saying this number is not in use. Weird.

getting calls from  person talks in spanish asking for someone try to explain they have wrong number they just keep asking

Number on our phone id twice today.  I tried to call back and of course, not in service!!!!!!!!!

Got these calls on the 17th of January 2009, it was an automated message from blockbuster telling me i have items that i havnt returned.

Got these calls the next two days. I called them back, first time someone picked up, but put me on mute. Called them back, told them the situation. They told me their gonna investigate this.

I received a call from this number last night. The guy on the phone told me I won a free cell phone for a great package . He continued on asking me if all my info was correct and it was address etc... Than he asked for my SIN # when I refused to give that over the phone he asked for a credit card number , which I also refused to give . Than the call turned harassing almost demanding I give them this information. I told them they could get stuffed . They gave me 1-877-997-7278 number to confirm that they are affiliated with Bell canada. When I phoned this morning a man answered who was on the street could hear cars beeping etc.. I asked if he was through Bell. He said no but it was Extreme wireless I said it all smelled of a scam to me and they weren't getting any more of my info and it was a shame they had what they did.  Good luck and beware

Got a call saying it was 24 Hr PC Repair company and they said they had been informed that I had a virus on my computer. They said "As the authorized user of this PC we would like to help you". He said "I will need you to sit in front of your computer", to which I said, "How the hell do you know I have a virus on my home computer?" He said, "You must have clicked on one of our links on the internet and that alerted us to your virus." I told him that if there was anything wrong with my computer I would take care of it myself. Thought it was strange when I saw what looked like a St. Catharines phone number on the call display. What a bunch of crooks! Be aware-there is fraud everywhere and the crooks keep getting smarter!

got a call today from these yo-yos asking me to go to my computer because i picked up a virus and their technician would guide me thru the steps to remove it. i basically told him that there was no way i was going to do this with someone over the phone, the conversation got heated and he  told me to F-OFF over the phone, i guess it was at that point i new this wasn't legit. careful out there!!!!!!!!
