- BillJust got this one today, CID said "Michigan call". Left no message. I'm getting one or two of these kinds of calls everyday now, from a variety of bogus numbers/locations. Almost always leave no message or it's an automatic call. I've actually heard different automated calls from the same numbers on different days! When I look them up I find one of these type threads 99% of the time. I wish there was a way to crack down on these unwanted calls.
Anymore I just screen all calls through caller ID. I have a phone that allows seperate ring tones to be assigned to numbers. I selected a ring tone for legitimate known callers so then when the different "default" ring tone rings, I know it's a suspect call.- Caller: Unknown
- glenCaller ID reads "Cell Phone MI". Left no msg on ans machine. Highly suspicious. Never been to Michigan and don't know anyone even remotely near that part of the country. Our phone number is on the federal DNC list.

- G replies to Mad as Hell| 1 replyIf you report them to the FCC/FTC and the do not call registry (if you are registered on the DNCR) every time they call (document the calls as they come in). You will have sufficient evidence to file a lawsuit with small claims against them. They potentially will end up paying you a tidy sum if nothing more than your filing fees and court costs and punitive costs. They need to be taught a lesson for their blatent attitude towards laws in this country. I don't answer these calls. I just google the phone number listed on my caller ID and then report them to the Federal entities for possible action against them. If you tell them to remove your name and number from their callling list and they don't and you have documented the dates and times they have called since then you have actual, valid grounds for legal action in civil court. In most cases they will try to settle with you out of court and depending on how strong you are about taking this action towards them they will hope you buy off on a settlement and not take them to court because they know they will loose the court case and end up paying more for the court to decide their demise. If everyone took this stand against them we might be able to get them out of business for life. If our government had any brains working for us they would make telemarketing illegal and pull all telemarketers out of circulation for good. The day of telelmarketers has long since passed it's usefullness and honesty. Any telemarketers these days are crooked as the day is long and we all need to realize this. DO NOT TALK TO THEM other than to tell them to remove your number and let them know you are reporting them to all possible federal organizations that will take them down for good. Also we all need to start writing stern letters on this subject to our congress and senators.

- fmitch| 1 replyI just received a call. My CID said Michigan and the number. A woman stated since I was a repeat customer of a particular cruise company, that I was being offered a 7 day cruise plus another 4 days, at various locations, for a total of 595.00, also that I had 3 years in which to book the actual cruise, keeping in mind, this offer was also being made to fill the ship. I asked her why they would offer discounts for cruises up tp 3 years in advance. She said she didnt know. Said all I had to do today was pay 498.00 to lock in! LOL. When she became too flustered to answer my questions, the phone was practically snatched from her by a male. She had been still talking. He was saying how I could Google their company which I believe he said was named Wholesale Cruises. Funny that's not what was on my CID. I told him I could not verify that"s where he was calling from. When I said this he started laughing, innapropriately. I never considered taking this offer, but was simply gathering info. This is the kind of scam that can ruin you. He even offered to transfer me to another person in their Dept. I had enough by that time. I asked that they take me off their list. People rule of thumb, unless you initiate the call, do not ever give any credit card information, never. If it's a company you are familiar with, tell them you will call them back. Remember, you can purchase an electronic item, that will allow you to code any name you choose, and that is what will show on the person's CID that you call. I was even told to Google the company's name that he said he represented, which is probably a legit company. I called the number back, of course no one answered. The recorded message said the Verizon customer was not available. Yes, I'am considering contacting Verizon. BEWARE.
