- RinginginmyearsI have told these people, 5 times a week for a year, that the person they are trying to reach does not live hear, and I don't know them.
- Caller: none
- JBirdNCO- they love to call 3 times a day but don't leave a message. Guess I won't talk to them!
- Call type: Debt collector
- kevin| 1 replycall every day
- Rachael| 7 repliesThey've called me 6 times today - starting at 7:17am.
Aren't there rules to this? They aren't supposed to call more than 5 times a day or it's harrassment and I'm pretty sure 7am is too damn early. They have yet to leave a message so I have yet to answer.
I don't owe anyone any money so I don't know what the problem is!- Caller: 9092028200
- LizThey've call me several times during the day, everyday. They don't leave message. If its so important to consistently call every 15 mins then then leave a message.
- Caller: unknown
- AngelGuess I am now on their list -- they call my cell!
- JenI answer when I am home. Every time they ask for the same person, and every time I tell them that no one by that name is at this number. Very strange because for the past few weeks they have been looking for "Mark" and about a year ago I got collection agency calls for several months looking for "Rosa." I don't even know anybody by either of those names!

- TeresaThis number calls me constantly, never leaving a message. They have called at 7:02am and 9:58pm before and I think it's illegal to call during those hours. Aren't there laws on what time businesses can contact people? I live on the east coast and apparently this number is from California. They aren't following guidelines for the times they are allowed to call. I can't call them back if they don't leave a message. I almost never answer numbers I don't know, but basically I have a life. I have a job and a family and I don't have time to answer all the time. If this was a legitimate business they would leave a message to return the call.
- Flabbergastic replies to Rachael| 3 repliesRacheal, they are not even supposed to call you five times if you don't want for them to.
Actually, the Fair debt collection practices act says that you can tell your creditors that you do not have the money and to stop calling. After that you have to follow it up with a request in writing (a certified letter) repeating that you want for them to stop calling. You will still have to settle with them sooner or later via you the mail, fax and/or court to pay them or....I am not a lawyer.
A free copy of a "debt kit" includes a sample letter.
Bear in mind that that this will only buy you some time and a little peace of mind until you decide what to do about that pesky bill.
P.S. The collections worker will play his/her trump card by telling you that the sheriff's will come to your house because you did not pay your bill and that the Fair debt collection practices act can not stop them from calling....but most of the time they will resort to sending emails, regular mail and any other way that they can other than the telephone.
More information like the debt kit can be found under how to get a creditor to stop calling.
This is wordy, but it helped two of my friends buy time and have some peace while they settled one way or another with their creditors. - Chan replies to Rachaelactually yes it is against the rules they are only able to call after 8 and before 9 pm.
- Murphyautomated calling system they will call all day and never leave a message. If it is that impoortant I contact them, you think they would leave a meessage rather then just hang up. Very strange business practices.

- LISA909-202-8200....I get calls from these people all the time. When I tell them that I got laid off and am filing for unemployment, and will pay them as soon as I have the money myself, they start to harass me. Saying well if you don't have money how do you have a cell phone... f* u how do you know it's a cell and why does it matter. Ever think I'm on a family plan and I don't pay for it??? Thank you jerks... if it's so important leave a message or... answer when I pick up... and don't make me wait 5 mins to finally get you to ask for me.

- LISAThese people called me at 5:18 AM this morning. It's NCU or NOC Financial. They deal with corporations like Old Navy and Capital One and all them. I knew I owed money to Old Navy and have told them over and over again that I'm unemployed right now and I just got hit with credit card fraud, and want to put a hold on my account till it gets all figured out. They don't care they yell at me and tell me then why do you have a cell phone if you can't pay your bills. (Um... hi why is it your business? Maybe I don't pay for my cell phone maybe it's a family plan it's none of your business!!!!) And 5:18 in the morning are you crazy!!! They call all day all night.... On Monday I got a call at 11:59 PM yup that's right...as I was waiting at the airport for family!

- kma club| 1 replyI have my own saying. It's called the kma club which means kiss my ass. This is my hm phone. I only owned 1 credit card that had any balance on it. my husband had added my name as an 'authorized user' or the credit card companies automatically added my name on or sent us unsolicited credit cards. I never used any of these. my husband committed suicide due to forthcoming foreclosure & credit cards. All caused by my being so very ill from 3 sick federal bldgs. almost 20 yrs of constant debilitating illnesses. Now I am being foreclosed on. The only little credit card that had a $2500 limit on it they automatically stopped -ex: if my minimum was 10 I'd pay $30-50 every month. now they will get nothing until they reinstate my 1 credit card. I don't answer phone at home and these companies do not will not EVER have my cell phone!

- Cyndi| 1 replyThey are constantly calling, leaving no messages! I finally just picked up and they asked for me, I said I wasn't home and they hung up! If it's so important and they finally got a live person rather than my machine on the phone wouldn't they leave a message with the live person! They are a**holes! I changed my cell number about 2 months ago because they were constantly calling it. Now somehow they got my new number?!?!?! How is this happening?! I called my cell phone company to b*tch and they said they would NEVER give out my number!!!
