Same scam. Want's my address to send his mover to pick up rims. High-pressure to get my address to get me a certified check. Says he can't talk and can only text. Interesting that the individual is in such a hurry that he needs my 411 right now at 9:30PM. Nobody is cutting Certified Checks as this time. Seems to only text in the evening also; the first was last night around same time then quiet all day today. Fishy.

Scam, scam, scam. Rims wanted would pay extra 50 to hold until check arrive. Well check arrived and it was for $1,500 MORE. CHECK FROM BUSINESS IN NY, Bank in NY. Both legitimate addresses. Signed by different name than on USPS Priority envelope. Return address was in Martinez, Ca. But street address was for Paul Quinn College in Dallas, TX. BUT listed Richland College (also in Dallas) under the name Mark Jude. Contacted by another number also of (650)-889-7592 which shows to be landline out of Half Moon Bay, California.

Glad you were awrare it was a scam!

    Lurkers, read this ... carefully!
    http://www.fdic.gov/consumers/consumer/news/cnwin0607/scams.html

    Extract:
"In these cases, the depositor most likely will be held responsible for the entire amount of the fraudulent check."

Instead of cashing the check, take it and the envelope in which it came to the post office.  They will use it as evidence and pursue the scammer.

My son fell for the same scam. I just received the check for light bar he was selling to a guy. It came Priority Mail from Mark Jude, Richland College and was written for an extra $50 for holding the check and an extra $1600 for a mover/handler to pick up the item. I warned my son this afternoon about this sounding like a scam when he called me telling me about the deal and to watch for the check. After searching for the Check name CMI Corp - and the senders name -I found this site.
Can you tell me if anything happened to you after you discovered this was a scam?
