IRS Telephone Scam, someone claiming to be from the Dep't of Legal Affairs of the US Treasury called and stated that we owed a lot of money and legal action was being taken against us. When we tried to get more information from them about who they were and what the complaint was, they quickly got off the phone. When I called back it was the same person but he said I had the wrong number.

Just got a call today  from this number (909-666-8128) saying my wife's is going to get arrested for not paying her taxes. Accent is like Indian which is hard to understand. Called this number back and I heard the same background noise from a caller (different number) several months ago. The noise will make it appear it is in an office settings. The guy said it is the Dept. of Legal Affairs. I asked what company and he could not immediately answer. The after a minute he said  IRS. He pretended to transfer the call to another person but it was obvious he was the same guy just trying to change his voice. The guy said my wife owed a large amount of money to the IRS and if I did not pay right away she would be arrested. I was about to burst in laughter but before that I was able to say "[***] you scammer!" and I laughed and he laughed too. Told him to not call our number anymore.

They need to find somebody who actually speaks English.  Received a phone message for my wife from someone claiming to be from the Dep't of Legal Affairs of the US Treasury who said that we needed to call them back or legal action would be taken.  Nice touch in saying "God Bless" at the end of the message.  Would somebody from the government actually say that?

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

We have started legal action against you call right away. Man with a heavy foreign accent. Said his name was Mike Smith and it was urgent I call back right away.

Caller left a voicemail saying his name was Mike Smith with the US Treasury Department, Department of Legal Affairs and requested a call back.  Also said God Bless at the end of the voicemail.
