- jt| 2 repliesRental housing scam in San Francisco. He texted me to check my email. I read the email and it had so many red flags. First of all, this wasn't the first email I have come across with the same tone. It's always a really White sounding name, and the email is poorly written. Second, they have the story that they had to move for few years (3-5 usually) and didn't have time to get an agent so they have all the papers and keys with them and are unable to come back to deal with you. Anyway, this one claimed they were in Connecticut. So why the 910 area code number?

- yvonne replies to jt| 1 replyOMG!!!!!! SUCH [***]... my guy was Harry Rarick and was going through a rental property listing called Trulia.
I contacted him regarding a house for rent and he emailed me a real sob story about his wife being sick, telling me he does missionary work and they now live in Connecticut. and wiould be there for 3-5 years. Everything I read about fraud was spot on, Everything!!!!!! He was willing to send me the paper work and keys to this house so he said he had. he was very persistant on the word "TODAY" in his emails. I ended up giving his MY address, who I worked for, and photos of my family like an idiot all before I caught on to his [***] SCAM.
I finally caught on when he asked me to send the money via money gram.... which I didnt thank god.BEWARE OF ANY ONE GIVING A POORLY WRITTEN SOB STORY WITH THE NAME RARICK. OR ANY CHEAP ASS WRITTEN STORY. - yvonneBeware: harry rarick, verdedrive@hotmail.com

Same number, same story, but his name is Paul - Eric| 1 replySame story here! His wife is sick, they're moving to Alabama and claiming to rent a house in Berkeley for $1200/month (hundreds cheaper than anything else). I'm a grad student so it sounded great to me. Got an email from "Paul Cassanover" and a text from this number telling me to check my email. Red flag when the 910 area code is not in California, plus the email was written terribly.

Fort Collins, CO housing craigslist Scam - Nessa replies to Jamie Olguin| 1 replyIs there a way to contact the police or other authority? - Nessa| 1 replyThis a rental Scam! How can we found out the actual "real" owner of this number. He has done this now too many times with too many people! If we all ban together maybe this can be stopped! Please reply here if somebody on this message founds out the identity and if they did anything with authorities. Thank you!
- CWG40 replies to NessaMost likely overseas scammers. Hard to say. Most likely spoofing local numbers. You can make a complaint to your local police or sheriff's department. If you do, make sure you go in person and bring a copy of this thread. LE may do nothing, but at least they can notify the local media of this scam and then the community.
Never attempt to rent property from someone sight-unseen. Never wire rental deposits or any funds to someone you do not know. Never pay any funds in the form of untraceable instruments. Never pay by cash. Always demand a walk-through of ANY property you want to rent and hire a local licensed real estate broker to assist you in the rental negotiations. Costs a little more, but will save you in the long run. - AnonymousHousing scam! Posted a home in Portland OR on cl, found this website saying it's been done from this number in the past.....
