Called the number back, and it states, "welcome to the Verizon National Payment Center."  I do not have Verizon.

Ditto! Same here 'bout 5 min ago. Only, I did answer, and the fella asked if I could here him and he received a "yes", which now concerns me.
As he started on, thanking me for being a customer, but hadn't identified who he was or with whom, I said as much and good-bye. Calling back reached a Verizon (or so stated) cell phone activation phone tree. No human contact option available. I will now call Verizon.

Robocall with "free Bahamas cruise" scam, just press 1 to take a short survey and win a free cruise.  Total scam, they will ask for a credit card number to cover some up front fees, and you never see a free cruise.

In reality it is a sales call disguised as a survey. The sole purpose of the survey is to see if you fit the demographic for their travel club or timeshare. In order to receive your "free" cruise, you have to qualify, usually married, age 25-65, and annual household income >$50K and then attend their high pressure sales presentation at a local hotel or conference center where they have rented a room. Then you find out there are all sorts of "fees" and taxes associated with this "free" cruise and you are responsible for the travel expense to get to and from the departure port of the cruise. You can only book through them and the available dates are quite limited.

Just received a call from this number, but I didn't answer it. Looked up the number instead and confirmed it is yet another scammer. If I had a dime for every call I get from BS scammers my retirement income would be set.
