calling claiming to be a law firm. Called after hours, what law firm does that?

They have been calling me saying they were going to sue me

Me too! They just called and told me that my local law officials will be showing up to my job tomorrow to serve me with an arrest warrant! Something about a payday loan, which I have the slightest clue about, I never even applied for any such thing. I wish I knew how to report these people.

They are calling my work number all day saying i will be arrested if i do not pay the bill. when i ask what bill it is for? they hang up. if i call from a different number, they say they don't have me on record.

Same thing. Said i would be arrested at work and wanted to knw who my lawyer was. I was facing criminal charges but didnt say what. Dont now what they were talking abt! Called my work several times Nov.5.

Have received numerous calls from this number and of course the name is always different when they call. They call my place of business and each time I answer and they start giving me their line I tell them they are full of **** and it is a scam and hang up the phone.

Just had my local Police Department check it out and he said do no give them any information!!!!! This is a scam!!!!!

Received a phone called from this person stating that my son owed money from a payday loan.  They stated that if he didnt pay they would have him arrested and he would stay in jail for 21 days.  I called (mother) and asked what was going on.  The person wouldnt give his name only that it was for (forgot the law firm he said) but he had a heavy accent) a payday loan that my son did over the web.  (of course he never did such a thing)  The guy said he had to call me back and for me to speak with the officer.  They did call me back and once I started asking questions they just hung up.............PLEASE BE AWARE THAT PEOPLE ARE GETTING SMARTER AND TRYING TO SCARE YOUNG KIDS!!!!  THIS IS A SCAM TO GET YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION..........

Payday loan scam, ignore the calls.

These people have called me numerous times in the past few days wanting to talk to my husband about a payday loan that we never got or applied for. They said they were going to have the local police dept. arrest my husband.

They have called me 6 times today alone. Numerous times over the last week.

They called me at work and on my cell phone. They call all day long. Same thing with me tell me I have an outstanding payday loan and if I don't pay them they are going to have me arrested. Saying that it was check fraud and a whole bunch of other bs. I ignore them. I have also went to the police on this. Even if you did have a payday loan outstanding that is a civil matter. The can't have you aressted for that. They will also tell you that the only way to pay is by getting a card from walmart called the green dot card or something like that. Honestly people who wouldn't want your checking acct information. They dont because if they were to take it and someone was able to get them to court they would be screwed. On top of that it is always an indian guy with a american name. Again do u thing I'm that stupid. JUST IGNORE THEM AND THEY WILL GO AWAY!!!! it might take a while but they will. Or just have your number blocked.

they called me telling me im going to be arrested at my job and if im not there the city police will come and arrest me at my home. They say that thier from " THE STATE LAW FIRM OF KANSAS" with very strong accents from india or something. i just wish i knew how to report these people!!!

he just called my phone and keeps leaving messages on my phone saying my attorney has to get in contact with him and if he doesn't hear from me soon that he wishes me good luck in this situation o_O but he wants me to call him back, this was just at 6:18 pm eastern...SCAM!!!

Im glad Im not alone. Im going through the same bs. when they call just tell them that you and 50 others have filed harrasment charges. and you know where they are.

THey  have  been calling my  friend at work and I  told them  last night that they are not  getting a cent unless  i get a warrent  for  her arrest , I  gave them the  address  of our  work place and told them  the  phone  number of  our  local  police , also  that I  have  filed a complaint with our  local police  to look into the  claims . I told them  unless there is  a sopeana  not on dime they will see , and that they tried the same thing  with me last year  and they  told me  " yes  mame  we  know all about you and you will be arrested as well' my answer  "then come get  me !"

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

i got the same call from them yesterday saying the same thing.
