I've found the website of the calling company. They called me many times for weeks.

It's http://www.vipresearch.net/. I contacted them and they assured me that the calls will stop. I wanted to share this information.

Called our phone and then did not talk. I hit *69 and 913-384-6885 was the last number that called. We have been getting a lot of those calls lately where no one would talk. It is getting annoying.

I don't answer most phone numbers from out of my town unless I recognize the number or the person leaves a message and then I call them back. I have received about 20 calls within the last week and its annoying.

It's either a cold call regarding radio listening, or we've already spoken with somebody and are trying to reach them for the follow-up survey.  We use a dialer, if you pick up the phone and hang it up, it just assumes that no one is there and will try again, and again, and so on.  Save yourself all the hassle: Simply pick up the phone and request to be removed or you can even e-mail me at mike@vipresearch.net.  Be sure to include your area code and phone number, as that's the only way we can look you up and get you off of the list.

This is just a 2 minute survey that's supposed to be fun and easy for all involved parties.  Often times we talk to someone in the house and they agree to do the survey (because it's kinda fun) but when we call back, the spouse, parent, sibling or whoever has no idea who we are and then all this drama occurs.  Like I said, if you're going to go through all the trouble of posting on here, at least take the time to e-mail me and I'll get you off of our list.
Thank you all for your time.
    Mike

Don't give this jerk any personal information.  This is an identity theft ring.  Call the police.

I received a call at 10:30pm 9/19.  It was a recording informing me about a townhall meeting.  The person gave a phone number and a website but no pen available.  The website name sounded like "Lumanour" or something like that.

Wow.  If any of you have questions, please contact me at 913.384.9494 x 103.  We've never called and given a recording, our system is not capable.  Calling at 10:30pm is against the law, so again, something we would never do.  If there is caller id info that would disprove it, I'd love to see it.  For whatever reason, Bluesmith is mistaken as it just couldn't have been us.
As far as Astute's post goes: Think about it, I've already called, I already have your number, I just need it to remove it.  We are registered with the National Do Not Call list, our SAN# is:259617-496084-07.  We are exempt because we NEVER sell anything, nor do we ever resell any personal information.  To be registered as exempt by the DNC (each year since it's inception) is not something an "Identity theft ring" could or would do.  So jerk or not, these are easily verifiable facts and I hope they help you better understand what we do here.

I have tried to call the number back and all it does is ring, ring and ring.  No answer..Mike do you really exist, how can we enter an extension when nobody answers the call back?

Also looked on the BBB website and this company (VIP Research) is not listed..so don't give them any information..they may not be a vaild company.
The number that Mike Heydman gives comes up in the BBB as MJM Research.  I was unable to get the link to open regarding MJM Research to see if VIP Research is part of the group.  I would recommend emailing the BBB before giving any personal information.

    Call 913.384.9494 then ext 103.

Either someone will answer, or the voicemail will pick up after hours.
It will never just ring (like the 913.384.6885 number would, as it's just a line out in the call center).

We used to be MJM Research, until 2001, when we changed our name.

Unless there's been a complaint, or if the business chooses to register voluntarily, there will not be a listing in the BBB.  No, I haven't registered, but at least I haven't had to address any complaints that would require me to do so.  The BBB is more useful in protecting consumers from fraud and shady business practices whereas the DNC is designed to deal with random phone calls and that sort of thing.

So there it is.  I've done my best to provide a reasonable explaination for what we're doing here.  If you want off the list, call me or mail me and give me a number to remove (or you can even pick up the phone and tell the agent to remove you).  Otherwise, you're free to pursue any other means in order to achieve whatever it is you're trying to accomplish by posting on here.
    Regards,
    Mike

Sienna - I'm sorry about that, and I'd like to find out who hung up on you.  I just need an area code and phone number to take you off of the list.  As far as the Do Not Call list goes, it's designed to block solicitors and sales and that type of thing.  We just do surveys, so we are exempt, but I'd be more than happy to remove you from our list.
You can e-mail me at mike@vipresearch.net
    Thanks,

Usually the way they bypass the do not call list is when you sign up for a sweepstakes at a Home and Garden show, you are also giving the company the ability to call you almost any time.. When you sign up for sweepstakes.. read the fine print.. or else you might be just putting your name in a database to get these calls.
