    Those scammers are idiots.
    If they actually have your work phone number:
    Notify your boss and any Human Resources person, and give them this number you have posted about.
    They will tell those callers not to call the business asking for you.
    And do the others who work with you know about 800notes and other phone-number-reporting websites?
    Time for them to learn !

    They state they are First Financial and have used at least a dozen names and they are from Legal Investigation. Either to put the empolyee on the phone or must speak to Supervisor.  Have called us every name in the book, have asked if they want money and state put the money in you pocket they are emtpy and mine is full of dollars.  Call repeatedly never stop, have stated they will blow up work place and phones. Do not care about anything, police do not scare me.  Have said they are my father.  Numbers comes up as unavailable, call 000, First Financial, Big Rock, IL and even the employees home phone number.  This is crazy

    Call my work place for hours at a time.  Say I owe them money, but I have never heard of them.  They had all my personal information.  They said they will not quit until I pay them or I am fired.  I am on the verge of being fired.  Need help.  Don't know what to do.  Filed a local police report.  Officer got on phone with them and this did nothing.  They have called me a "s*&t," and told me to "f#$% off."  Very rude.  Have work phone on automatic dialer.  Boss is getting tired of the calls, as are my fellow co-workers.  Any advice?

    Your work place cannot fire you for being harassed by obvious debt scammers.  Your employer can talk to their telecom provider and block the number they call from.  Print up this thread and show it to your employer, so they know what's going on.  This number is a "YMax Communications VoIP in Chappaqua, NY" - a Magicjack number.

    Some helpful info here:

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors

    Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

       is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
       refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
       asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
       exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

       Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

       If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
       Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
       Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
       Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
       Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    Indian or Pakistani debt scammers.  Accent so strong you can cut it with a knife.  Block their calls and ignore them.  If they are calling  your work, see if you can get call blockers installed.

    I'm thinking they are picking on women because they think women are more vulnerable.  Sad business.   But beyond call blocking there isn't much anyone can do.

    They ignore police because they are in India and Pakistan and as such beyond the reach of US law.  This is just an extortion operation.  Do not talk to them.   The more you talk to them, the more they think you are vulnerable.  If they think you feel vulnerable, they will just hammer you with more calls.   They tend to pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community.

    Beyond call blocking, there isn't much anyone can do.

    Yes we found out the same information Majic Jack in New York, they are not worried about being caught as they know there is nothing any one can do.  We had local sheriff answer the call after they threatened to blow up our work place and they laughed at him.  The employees lawyer contacted them and said they were going to sue again they just laugh.  Currently our phone provider can not block the calls, so have a whistle and air horn, once I know it is them either one in the phone, make them really mad.

    True scam all the way, I have been called so many names today it is unreal.
