Received a call from this number, no one there, they hung up after a bit. When I called back, the recording "the number is not valid" came on. Probably some scammer.

Ditto! The Do Not Call list does not work and the FCC does not do anything when you report these types of calls!

Either your keyboard has a broken Caps Lock button, or you like SHOUTING.
The former is usually a sign there is a loose nut behind the keyboard.
The latter may be keyboard-independent.

Exactly how is the DNC does not work?

Legitimate telemarketers use it to prevent calls to registrants.  Just think - if there were no such list, you would be getting calls from BOTH legitimate and scam "telemarketers".

The DNC list does not apply to charities, political calls, surveys, debt collectors or companies with which you did business in the last 18 months.

The DNC list is ignored by spammers and scammers, and those criminals usually use VOIP or burner phones, and cannot be easily traced.  Kristi Thompson of the FCC explained that it can take her anywhere from five to ten subpoenas to trace a single robocall back to its origin

Is there ANY law that is 100% effective in preventing criminals from disobeying it?

The FTC penalizes organizations located in the USA that violate DNC provisions, but only if those organizations are identified!  Have you done your part to identify your callers?

The DNC organization does not sell its list to non-registered telemarketers.

All this information, and more, is available on the DNC site, for those who have the cerebral capacity to read and understand.  Apparently you do not qualify, but prefer to mislabel things that you do not understand.

If you want more protection than provided by the DNC list, get a call blocker app, device, or service, and learn how to use it correctly.  Try a little self-responsibility!

this number just called saying they were from microsoft and that my updates were causing their server problems...  name not  found on caller id... didn't really saybit they wanted to get into my system... he spoke in broken english and couldn't really explain anything I asked...   please be careful of scams!!!

I answered the phone.  Nobody there.  I kept saying hello and then a recorded voice said Good Bye!

Called said they were from Microsoft and was about my windows on my computer I said your full of [***] and they hung up

They just called me as well with the microsoft story... I pretended like I was super interested and fed him a bunch of bs that he ate up.... anyway he is calling me back in a week to try and solve my windows update problem..... hahaha

Saying they were from Microsoft trying to fix a problem with my computer, hung up once she realized I was onto her.

Woman called saying in broken English saying there was a problem with our Microsoft Windows, are we on the computer now. Told her we didn't have Microsoft but she said there was one registered (probably an old PC for a child) to us. Then she hung up.  Scammer.

this caller is a sales person to fix your computer...very annoying.....when calling back this number it says not valid.

Got a call from this number..mycallbot says Microsoft. .funny too because i just put a reject on another number from Microsoft. Not interested in their phone calls..won't answer either..good luck robocalls..

I'm on the DNC list an will report this.  Got a call at 1:10pm: they left no message.

Indian guy, broken English , same story as above about Microsoft update. I hung up...

Claimed to be calling from Windows tech support. I don't have a Windows computer.  This was obviously a scam artist.

Indian accent. Claimed to be coming from the Computer Department (when pressed to ask from which institution, I didn't recall a clear answer) coming to resolve an issue sent via the Windows Error Reporting system. Claimed there was a problem with my Windows Update. Made me run cmd -> msinfo32 ->  software environment -> windows error reporting. Told me that all of this was the effect of a virus/trojan/malware. I asked for a number and a name that I could call back, and he gave me "Mike Thomba (?)" and the number "800-313-0000". Using another phone I called that number and there was no answer from that number. I immediately hung up afterwards. He called back twice and then stopped.
