It's a recording, you get the "h-hello?" and then right into the speech.

Stop CALLING,  you have a god damn computer dialing numbers and have no ideal who or where your calling.  If I want to make a pledge to a police conference I will do it directly with police agency in my area and state not another state.  Just because my phone has a NYS area code does not mean I live in the crooked state. And you should be regulated to follow the DO NOT CALL lists like anyone else.

Caller ID read Yonkers.  Man claimed he was representing 250,000 PBA officers and would like a commitment.  I told him NO, when I receive it in the mail I will forward it to our Police Dept.

This guy keeps calling day and night. I told him not to call again, but ignored me, and kept calling again & again, until I submitted a claim to the at: https://www.donotcall.gov/. Hopefully this will stop. Its all one person attempting to lure some stupid guy/gal into thinking that this is the police dept. calling, and of course you would donate for the conference, otherwise you would be arrested or ticketed, right? You scum bag, go get yourself a job, and don't rob other people's hard earned money, by sitting at the phone and do robo calling.

Persistent pest, waste of everyone's time. Who gives money over the phone to someone they don't know. For every one out of a thousand who will, the other 999 of us have to be bothered.

They used to call a long time ago and I reported them to Do Not Calls and the Chief of police in Albany

I turned off my answering machine and then picked up the phone and hung it up right away. Waiting for my call blocker to arrive in the mail so I will block this number as well as any other numbers. Also, will be reporting it to the donotcall registry, though often that seems to be a waste of time.

What I am doing, both for numbers originating from my state as well as others, is to print up the complaints that are posted (such as this board) and mail them with a cover letter to the appropriate state attorney general to let them know what is coming from their areas. Perhaps if they get bombarded with these complaints, they will investigate since no one else seems to do anything about it.

Called our DNC registered landline on 07/22/2014 @ 04:45 PM from Yonkers, NY. Caller ID shows Yonkers, NY. No message was left. We set voicemail to pick up on 5 rings and robo-callers disconnect in 4 or fewer rings.
I get a lot of (914) Yonkers “charities”. These people are either 3rd party telemarketers or total scammers. Don't know and don't care.

Wake up and smell the roses.  Do you really believe they are calling from 914-595-4540 in Yonkers NY?  They could be anywhere in the world, they are scammers and do not care anything about DNC.  If you don't recognize the number, do not answer.  If you answer, hang up.  Do not talk to them, do not call back.  And, do not push 5 to be taken off; all you have done is confirm the number their computer just dialed is valid.

Doug, first of all please do not insult NY ,   second use your God given brain and follow a logical course of thinking, this forum consists of people whom receive the same scam calls as yourself and we post here to share information and any warnings regarding the callers. If you change your area code, you will find that you would contacted by these scammers any way and NY area codes aren't the only ones targeted.

Do you really think that there would be a problem with continuous scam calling offenders if we were able to just post "stop calling me". And what world do you live in that you could possibly think people who are trying to scam people out of money would follow ANY rules/laws such as the DNC list.
Lastly, you are not being asked by an actual Police force, its a scam to get your money, the cause is just a ploy.

This board is simply a sounding board for people to vent and inform others of scam telemarketing calls they receive.  There is no authority associated with the 800notes site to stop these callers.  In order for people to collectively stop these type calls they must act together - and TAKE ACTION!  It doesn’t do any good to complain about a caller on this board unless you then take the next step and do something about it!  The caller ID number is usually a ‘Spoof Number” – A Fake!  Never, never, ever engage the caller or call back the number.  The false robocallers will then capture your number as a ‘live one’ and use it over and over and sell it to other scammers.  The same goes if it prompts you to ‘press a key’ to ‘opt out’  of their calling lists, or be transferred to someone, as this will only ‘log’ your number as a working one and make it ripe for future calls and to be sold to other scam companies as well.
The best option is simply to hang up, keep your own list of calling numbers with dates and times and report them to the FCC below.  There is space on their complaint form to list several calling dates and times of a repeat caller.
The DO NOT CALL list is worthless, they do not act on anything, just build a database of numbers.
In order to do something to help stop these type calls, everyone - EVERYONE needs to file an online complaint directly with the FCC.  If they receive enough complaints about a particular number - they will act on it.  Do it today and pass along the info:

Yes I just got a call from this number. They also call two other time with an east indian ascent asking about my debit info

Since no police department and no association of police officers in the United States solicits donations by telephone, you may be sure that all such solicitations are fraudulent.

Calls fairly often.  The machine takes it if I'm not home, otherwise I click on and off.  Glad to be able to read on here which particular scammer is calling!
