I received a message from scammers claiming to be the IRS. This number was left as a callback number, so there's a good chance it's also being used by scammers.
The original calling number was 607-397-8255.

I also  received a call from this number stating they are from the IRS. Scam!!!!!

I received a call robo-call today from 914-595-6462.  Shows the # is from White Plains ,NY.  Told me the IRS is issuing final notice and is filing a lawsuit against me.  I called the # back and got a voicemail that said this persons was unavailable and so I left a voicemail informing them that I was giving the information to the police and if they wanted to contact me to do it in writing so I can give it to my lawyer.  Not in the mood to deal with creeps trying to scam people out of their hard earned money.  Not to mention insulting my goo name!

I told the machine an expletive or two. also at this point, the person behind probably realizes that its a good idea not to contact me again or meet me face to face.

Left me a robo voice mail on my answering machine yesterday to call 914-595-6462. They called me from a payphone (315-458-7682).

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

Same thing here, these people should be picked up. They really don't understand moral reasoning.

I got a robo-call claiming that they had been trying to get a hold of me and that the IRS was going to file a lawsuit against me.   The above was the call back number.  I googled the number and it said it was a mobile from West Chester, NY.  Obviously a scam.

Prerecorded message left by this number saying "the IRS is filing suit against you". Scam. Third time in a month we've received calls like this.

I have been receiving calls under private caller daily. First they asked about my computer in a foreign voice so i hung up. Next day i asked if they would my ss number?!  Then told them i wasn't stupid i knew just what their scam was!!  Today i got the electronic message about the irs filing a law suit!! I guess they don't give up!! [***]!!!!

Same thing here.  914 595 6462.  Obvious scam.  Robot voice, perhaps because the person calling has a thick accent?

Received  a Robo call  last  night  on my  voicemail saying that a lawsuit  has  been filed  & to call back  for a  claim file . Called the  # , got a  msg saying  the person I  called was unavailable  & to leave a msg . NO  corporation name  , NO name of anyone representing  anything !! Can you say SCAM  boys  & girls -  I  think you can !!!

Recording: "Hello. we have been trying to reach you. This call is officially final notice from IRS Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number 914-595-6462, I repeat 914-595-6462. Thank you." Seriously!!! The IRS will NEVER EVER call you. They will always send a letter of notification if they have an issue. This is completely a scam!!

I had received a voice mail message from this number that I only heard part of, but it said something about an IRS lawsuit. I called the number back and actually got someone to pick up, but it sounded like they were in a conference room. I told him I'd received an incomplete message and was calling to follow up. He said he would look into it without taking any information from me, and put me on hold. After a few minutes, I hung up.

Thank you!  EVERYONE!  I receive a robo-call today from 914-595-6462 as well.  I have not called it back to follow up. Since I have read your comments and it verifies it must be a scam. The message stated the same that this is a final notice from the IRS issuing a law suit against me.  I personally know I have a great and clean TAX record as well as great TAX preparer!  I as well am NOT in the mood to deal with the creeps trying to get something from me.  RRRRRRR

IRS lawsuit from RoboCop...LOL! Please call this number above.  Googled the #, which lead me to this blogsite. Hopefully the IRS is on to these guys...
