What is the Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force?

President Obama established the Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force in November 2009 to hold accountable those who helped bring about the last financial crisis as well as those who would attempt to take advantage of the efforts at economic recovery.

The task force is improving efforts across the government and with state and local partners to investigate and prosecute significant financial crimes, ensure just and effective punishment for those who perpetrate financial crimes, recover proceeds for victims and address financial discrimination in the lending and financial markets.

With more than 20 federal agencies, 94 US Attorneys Offices and state and local partners, it’s the broadest coalition of law enforcement, investigatory and regulatory agencies ever assembled to combat fraud. The Task Force has established Financial Fraud Coordinators in every US Attorney’s Office around the country to help make these broad mandates a reality on the ground.
What is Financial Fraud?

Financial fraud takes many different shapes, and fraudsters wear many different masks. From mortgage scams that target the elderly, Ponzi schemes that shock the world, procurement fraud that steals money from our nation’s coffers, predatory lending that discriminates against vulnerable communities, securities fraud that undermines the trust and transparency of our markets, and the list goes on.

But the American people have something on their side the fraudsters don’t: the force of the largest coalition of federal, state and local partners ever assembled to combat fraud.

The Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force’s mission is broad, because the problem is broad, and the task force is working tirelessly to combat these and future scams to protect the American people.

A person with a ver thick third world accent left 2 messages on my phone that they have associated criminal fraud charges against my name and my social security number and I must contact them to avoid these criminal charges -  I must call back for my safety?????? to prevent criminal charges???

I am very afraid of this type of call - I have never done anything against the law in my LIFE- and do not deserve this - I am worried about  my identity - my bank accounts and my job- do I need to change my social security number??

What do I do about this?

I completely understand because i been getting calls from work and my cell phone saying the same thing about my social number and how i am getting charges against me.. Its a SCAM.. they says its the Crime of Justice or something like that.. If i was you i would press harrassing charges against them. Because i actually think i am going to file a charge because they keep calling me and leaving me voicemails and wont stop calling me..

I could not take the harrassing calls anymore.. After this morning saying they were going to arrest me and knew where i worked at and where i lived at i decided to go to my local police department and told them about this and how they are harrassing me on my cell phone and while i am at work calling my work phone.... If i was everyone else i would do the same and go to your local police department.They are also calling me from two numbers..

This number has called our place of business and harresed our employees.  The have threathend legal action against us, said curse words, used spoofing to change their number and called repeatedly and hung up on whoever has answered the phone.  We have recorded several conversations and have them available if need be.  We can be reached at 856-933-0222.

These damn people who could not even say my name but repeated my last 4 digits of my social security this is becoming a nightmare. They even called my ex husband's mother and told her they were sending the police to arrest me if I didn't call them back like really. I am beginning to get my life on track and these a?? holes call with this....please help I need my job and they keep calling what can I do?

This is getting out of control they left 3 messages on my phone In one day I called they said I have a case against me I told them I just called the courts and they have no knowledge if this he just started yelling and over talking me he say they r in new York sounds like he is not from US they need  to b stopped

Today my husband received a call from a man in New York who he could barely understand. My husband was threatened with a criminal lawsuit. He had our bank name and the last 4 digits of his SSN. He said we had not repaid a loan to Cash Advance/America could not understand him. He has called 6 times today, and is threatening to supena us.  The last 2 times he called and I spoke to him and told him we have contacted our bank and our attorney. I haven't had a call in the last 20 minutes but I am afraid we haven't heard the last of them. How can this type of harrishment be avoided?

The same thing happened to us today. Have you gotten anywhere? We have contacted our bank and they are almost certain it is fraud. We have also contacted our attorney.

They have called my husband 6 or 7 times today. Very worried in Missouri

Repeated calls from these folks, advised them that the employees personal life has nothing to do with the company, and they have to contact that person on their personal line. He informed me they do not have their personal info. I told him that was not my problem I was not authorized to give out personal information. Please do not call anymore, it has nothing to do with our company, and if they persist I will turnover to our legal department. Got his information, did not have a company name, just his first name (Paul) and the number 914-752-4954. Since he told me he was an officer of the law, I asked for his badge number, which of course he did not have nor knew of what I was talking about.. It is against the law for debt collectors to harass a person at their place of business. I informed him of such. Call your local BBB for more interpretation of that law.

I have received multiple calls from this number. I am concerned that my personal information has been released to this group of people that are from New York? I just want to know why they are calling me? I work with 5 years old with a class of 31 students and come home to four children. My life is daily living with taking care of my students and my family. I am tired of threatening phone calls on me that I have a court deadline and that if I do not call, I will be going to jail for 2 years. It is attempting to build fear, anxiety and unnecessary emotional concern for myself. If there is a way to block this number, please let me know so they can spend their time differently.

I keep getting calls from this number and a number in california. All callers have a thick indian accent and keep threatening me. Everytime i look the number  up it comes back as fraud. there are countless people they are harrassing. I am guessing they are getting our info over the internet.

Answered number and right away knew it was a false call. Heavy accent, no knowledge and rude behavior. Anyone that is an attorney doesnt call the person straight up. They have a secretary do so. These events have literally made me racist to arabs. Sorry to say

I am being threatened with being fired from my job and jail time by someone by the name on\f Nick Rosen at this number. I have repeatedly ignored these people, but they seem to be threatening more and more every time they call. How do I permanently get rid of these people?

Same here, they now have the ability to use your employee's cell number and make that appear on your caller ID.  It wa so bad I asked my phone carrier TW Telecom to block which they gave me the rum around and have not done it as  of now

Called my husband and said they had his ss and threatend jail etc. Just another scam. This happend to my stepson a couple weeks ago but it was an  IL # and I called the FBI office in IL and reported it. I will do the same with this #.

All people can go to www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov to report these scammers!!!! The more people that report them, then maybe something will get done about it.

Trying to trick your victims inot paying by wire, which is even harder to recover than credit card once they realize you ripped them off?

FRAUD! Stinking fraud. If you're going to try to defraud us, at least try to learn out language, scamming shilling pig!

To Mr. R Cooper, its obvious from your spelling that you are probably
one of the members of this scam. For starters, unless the debt is owed to
the Federal goverment, all cases are concidered civil and there for subpoenas are
not allowed across state lines there for an officer would not come to your door.Second
they do not jail people in the U.S. for not paying debt.
