soliciting money for TEXAS Highway Patrol.  When turned down got very rude and said thanks for wasting my time.  Of course, I felt the same way since he called me.

I get a call from them about once a year.
I answered one time about 5 years ago, very pushy and he tried to be intimidating.
I do believe he was a state trooper doing this telemarketing job for them, just sounded like it.

At the time they were asking for money for bullet proof vests for our state troopers.
When I said I didn't have the money to donate at that time he asked me 'don't you want our troopers to be safe?'
I don't feel like I should have to reveal my financial status just to get a telemarketer off the phone.
I can't afford it, and they don't take that as a NO!

I never answer them anymore. Gotta love caller ID.

I just got my yearly phone call from these scammers.  This is what one Deputy had to say about them.

•   Recent telephone solicitations and mailed flyers from the Texas Highway Patrol Association and Museum are bogus, according to Glasscock County Deputy Sheriff Keith Burnett. He says legitimate law enforcement organizations do not make telephone solicitations. Burnett said if county residents get these calls, and if they become in any way forceful, they should be reported to the local sheriff’s department.

The caller said he got my name out of the phone book.  This is interesting, as my number is unlisted.  In addition, I'm on both the national and state do-not-call lists.

I told him to take me off any lists and block my number from being called.  He hung up on me.

I just got a call from this number, 915-633-1835.  Caller ID says THPA.  I answered and the guy asked if I was Mrs. Smith (using my correct last name).    I said "Who's calling?".   He stammered and said "This is Bobby Ray. Is Mr. or Mrs. Smith there?".  I said, "And what is this concerning?"  He very quickly said "Well, I just needed to talk to Mr. or Mrs. Smith, but I will call back another time." and he hung up immediately before I could say another word.  Hmmm.... if he had answered my question, I would have told him that I was Mrs. Smith, but he never would answer my question, so I never had a chance.  How rude is that?     Our phone number has been on the Do Not Call list for many years.  I guess he felt he could call here anyway.  I'm reporting it to the Do Not Call Complaint Center for sure!

I just got a call from this number,915-6331835  THPA asking for money ,they going to send me an envelope to send a chek they said ( from 20.00 to ??????
