I have a close friend who is an attorney and when I told him I could have him call, he hung up on me. Beware if this number calls you, its a scam waiting to happen.
- MonicaThis number called my job and stated i owed money but when i called back telling them i knew this was a scam he started talking vulger and stated that what if he loved me Total Scam!!!!
- TeresaThe person didn't even speak english.... I couldn't understand them... but yeah they claimed to be a state attorney office... you would think if it was real they would have someone people could actually understand not have a strong indian accent. Total scam... they can keep talking to my voicemail
- AnnaThey also tried saying they were an attorney and that there was a criminal law suit against me and that I owed them money and I almost went ahead and sent them money because they scared me. But I am a Legal Assistant and looked up the number and tried calling them back and found this and the number I call now they do not answer. This is a scam people be careful!!!!!!!

- Tired of this scamers.| 4 repliesI had this number call me at my job and on my cell claiming to be state attorney office and that they have 3 judgments against me and when I told them to prove it they hung up. After looking up my state county clerk and state attorney public information and double checked that there were no claims pending against me, I called this people back and after them hanging up on me multiple times it was pay back time to harass them. After they called my job several more times I called them back to inform them to stop calling my job and my home number and if they continue I will sue them for harassment. This people are a total scam and a pain in the ass. They do not speak English and it’s very had to understand them at all. You would think that State Attorney Office would have people that spoke proper English if it was something real. Also a State attorney from another state can not call and say they filed in their own state if you live else where. Any claims must be filed in your own state that you reside in and in your county. Total scam. Give them a piece of there own medicine and call them 20 times to harass them. HAHA I did and it was fun.
- Ricardo Torres| 1 replyMan tells me that I own him money and bad part he knows my social too and it's the same thing as all you what to do what to do
- Alfalfa replies to Ricardo TorresThis is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

- Elspeth replies to Kim| 1 replyThat's a hoot - asking YOU if you can prove you don't owe the money - legitimate debt collectors have to abide by the terms of the FDCPA and THEY have to prove that someone owes money to them! Not that these guys are legitimate!

Says I owe him money and there were criminal charges filed under my name and social security number. Stated that investigators were on their way to my address (which he knew). I kept asking him what were the charges but he wouldn't tell me. Called my phone several times threatening me. I called the police and filed a report and reported the number to the FTC.

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/phantom-debt-co ... ory?id=16512428 - MMI have in the past few days recieved numerous calls from this company. I called back to find out what they wanted. The person was clearly in India. Of course gave me an american name. Notified me of a lawsuit for debt of a payment for a loan from Advance Cash USA. Of course I replied I have no such loan. Note: It took quite a bit of aggression on my part to even get the name of the company. At this point he told me that if I didnt settle it now, that in two hours I would be arrested by the state sherrif's office and they would send information to my job to have me suspended. When I am arrested I will face 6 months in jail. To which I replied good thing my sister in law is a sherrif's deputy. He was a little shocked. I then proceeeded to correct his knowledge of the US legal system. First I informed him that it would not be State Sherrif's office. We have county sheriffs. If I was being sued I would get a summons for a court date to determine whether I owned the money. I would not go straight to jail. And no, they cannot suspend me from my job. They could levy my bank account with court order. (I did my homework on the process). He got pretty irritated and tried to then tell me the sherrifs office would be there in 45 minutes. I replied, ok well maybe it will be someone I know. I then stated, I knew this was a scam and I am filling out the complaint with our FTC as we spoke. He got pretty pissed told me he didnt have to take that abuse and hung up. I filed my complaint with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
