No phone call. This number was left from a reply from an ad I had posted on Craigslist. The reply email is anniehunters8@gmail.com. I do not know why someone from Sacramento, CA would want my services from Colorado. This number is a land line in CA.

I would like to install my computer laptops,I have Pentium IV HP compaq laptops..which is four laptops.........and i would like you to Install software such as Microsoft Office and Anti Virus,clean inner & outer computer components, update software to current status. And i have all the installation softwares coming with the Laptops...Kindly let me know the final total price for the installation of the 4 Computers, "HP Compaq Laptops".

And my mode of payment is by Check. I await your urgent response with the price of the service for the 4 computers, so that i can put the arrangement in order.

Same exact experience and message with a different gmail account name. Not sure why someone would take the time to answer consistently to computer service companies on Craigslist. I am based in Colorado too and do not serve California except through remote services - which I have offered this person with advance payment of half the estimated cost.

I received that exact same message! I gave him a total, and he sent me a check for $3800, from which I was to subtract my quote and then pay the shipper. I can't see how anyone could go wrong with this guy. I received the $3800, in the form of a cashier's check! I deposited the entire amount in my account and sent his shipper $3000 via western union. They are being shipped out of Africa, of all places! I expect that I will be seeing them soon.

better see if you can stop payment. This is a common scam, your cashier's check will bounce, and you'll be responsible for covering the bill. Contact your bank about this right now.

no, you don't understand, it's a CASHIER'S CHECK. It can't bounce. The bank took it, so it must be ok. OH! Unless it's from a now defunct bank! I didn't think about that. I'll give the issuing bank a call tomorrow.

You could almost say that I may have been scammed, but it doesn't really matter anymore. I was lucky enough to get contacted by the son of the late President Okonkwo of Africa, and I'll soon be rich beyond all imagination! So what's a measly 3 grand???
