Caller ID was "SACRAMENTO   CA".
No message was left on our answering machine.
We're on the national do not call list.
It appears this may be a telemarketer using a new phone number.
We are now blocking this number!

A hangup

Some who gives his name as "Eric" calls, asking "who are you" this morning or afternoon. Then he launches into
a pitch for the Police Assistance ...something. Told him twice today that the police department never calls asking
citizens for donations and that his call was a scam.  He hung up, but I bet he'll be back. If so, I'll let him know
I am recording his call for the FTC.

3:01 PM - message was - Hello?  Hello? Are you there?  ID shows California PAL.  This is just another scam outfit.

Called 16Jan16, 11:06AM. CID=California PAL. This area code has been blocked due to previous scam calls. I have no idea who California PAL is but it seems to be as good as a scam name can get!

Our message this is a do not call number, please hang up and they did!

I've stopped anwswering my phone unless the CID show someone I know (too many scam calls!). For 916-469-0185, I  googled California PAL, and California Police Activities League comes up.  According to Charity Navigator it's a for-real charity, but not highly rated.  And a different number is given for it. Very suspicious.

These calls are a curse of technology. There are always some evil-doers like this person making such calls.  Sitting on its rear end doing nothing productive, it seems.

Just called...Television log showed # from Sacramento....Would never answer.....# is now blocked...FYI  Please don't believe this is some real charity...PAL....Scammers can do alot of things......impersonating....right down to a google search is one of them...Save yourself grief and just block it....

(916) 469-0185     Sacramento CA     Yesterday 05:19 PM      (police solicitation, PAL gets about 5% of the donations) Actually, scum, not scam and legal under our current system. Such calls to our cell phones will soon be legal, too, if our legislators have their way. SEND THEM A MESSAGE!

This call is from a "police charity" enabling kids to go to games. NO police department in CA is associated with ANY charities that call you. If you ask how much of your donation goes towards the kids they will say 3-7%. NEVER DONATE TO A CHARITY THAT DOESN'T GIVE AT LEAST 80% OF YOUR MONEY TOWARDS THE CAUSE. It is a scam otherwise! This charity MIGHT be legally legitimate but your money isn't going to the kids. It is going towards retreats, banquets, personal travel, personal entertainment... for their personal luxury. It is a scam covering their hind end by giving only a few dollars to the cause! This ought to be illegal but it isn't. HANG UP, BLOCK THE #, GIVE THEM FAKE INFORMATION (if you want to waste their time & play their game), asked to be put on the no call list (but that hasn't worked for me). They call me every few months anyway. This is not a charity worth your hard earned money. Donate elsewhere. ALWAYS ask how much of your money is going to the cause (answer should be 80+%). NEVER donate $$ over the phone or email. ALWAYS call them back if you really want to donate, write a check mailing it & never through a credit card. By mailing it through the US Postal service it now becomes a truly fraud case if they cash it. Be smart, give to good legitimate charities only.
