They left a message on my answering machine.  Said it was Wells Fargo Bank.  Concerned because a credit card they sent me recently had not been activated.  Please call back and have your CC number, bank account number and name on account, EIN number and name on account, and your Social Security number available for them.  I called Wells Fargo Bank in Sacramento.  They said it was not showing as a valid number on their list.  Serious scam.  Remember if you have an account with someone they don't have to ask for that information.  They already have it.

Got a call last night.  We have 8 Wells Fargo credit cards.  I returned the call to 80 803-9783 and put in our control account number, EIN, phone number and it said my card had been activated.  Then I called Wells Fargo because I still didn't know which of our cards they were calling about and Wells Fargo said that they would not call until a card had been sent out and not activated after at least a month.  They said that this was most likely a SCAM!  I am so glad that I put our control account number instead of one of the ones on our actual card.  They said they can't put charges on that number.  I got lucky.  I searched the 800 number to see if I could find any feedback but I didn't find anything so I thought it was ok to call back.  I guess they change the 800 number all the time.

Claims its Wells Fargo about an unactivated business card and asking for all kinds of secure info. Unusual because didn't say our name and they should have our info. Definitely a SERIOUS SCAM!

This is indeed suspicious. A Robocall saying they were Wells Fargo, requesting a callback to yet another 800 number wanting personal information claiming the request was out of concern that we had not yet activated a Credit Card. The call was received days before the card actually arrived. I called the number on the sticker to activate it and asked about this number -916.569.6732. The gentleman from WF could not find this number on his list of known WF callers. The next day I called the known Customer Svs number for WF, inquiring about this number. Without missing a beat, he said, "It's NOT ours!" I asked him again, he repeated "It's NOT Ours". The first guy said WF used to have an operation at Wells in Sacremento but it is now closed. What alarmed that guy was that WF would never call before the card arrived. Something is not right about this caller. It does sound like an authentic WF Bank Robo caller. But 2 bonafied employees now assert it is NOT. Needless to say, avoid calling the number they request you call, and certainly if you do, avoid disclosing any information. I suspect this is a Scam and perhaps an insider is involved. I would consider this call Hostile.

I'm in Los Angeles, CA. Just happened to me. Like one of the other folks who posted, I received a Wells Fargo business credit card within the last week. I knew that I had activated it. I called Wells Fargo and they advised that my CC had indeed been activated and that they believed it was a scam. I then "googled" the phone number (916 569 6732) and landed here and confirmed the scam. Thanks, all, for posting this information.

Just received the same type of automated call this evening.  Although I did recently receive a new Wells Fargo credit card and had not yet activated it, I googled the number left for me to call back (800) 803-9783.  What sounded fishy to me was the automated call asked for me to have my Fed ID No. or social security number ready when I called back.  The call originated from (916) 569-6732.  Just another reminder to always call the number on the back of your credit card.  Never call a number back that was left on your voicemail or received through an e-mail.  Lots of scams out there.  I'm sure someone got wise to the fact Wells Fargo recently issued new credit cards and decided to start a scam...
